REAL custom colored gauge faces that look great!
Ok, so you probably knew about the white reverse glow gauges that some like and others don't. I for one didn't, no offense all those that have them or like them. Well for the longest time that was our only option until Speedhut came out with custom colored and designed gauges. If you haven't heard of them check them out, Tim aka tstar has done a lot of research and development to make that project become a reality. And they were for the most part a good thing except for one tiny little detail... The warning lights (such as brake, seat belt, traction, etc.) are merely cut to their respective shapes instead of shining through the gauge face. This is a huge flaw to those perfectionists and it is kind of an eyesore for most (me). Jeff aka XtremeVette had a solution to this when he decided to completely reverse engineer the process and fix the layer that had the cutouts. I saw his thread, I was jealous, so I asked him to do it to mine, he did.
His thread for reference:

My gauge cluster after a little time, some aluminum bezels, and reworked gauges a la Jeff's magic!
So these are a pretty accurate representation of what they look like day and night by snapping a bunch of photos to capture the correct amount of light they emit at night. The quality and craftsmanship are top notch, definitely look OEM and very professional. One word of caution, slip them OVER the needles is possible (it is possible) because putting the needle back may cause a problem. See my oil pressure, need to fix that when I'm not feeling lazy. Jeff is willing to modify your current or future Speedhut gauge faces and there are vendors on this forum that sell them. Just talk to XtremeVette to see what he can do for you. Thanks again Jeff!

Looks really good - a definite improvement in the looks of the gauges.

I didn't see this answered, but are your gauges on the factory lighting in the pics??? That's pretty much all that's stopped me from going that route, but not seeing this I would LOVE to have a carbon copy of your red gauges, as I think they're perfect.

Alright, to answer some questions for you guys YES you need the Speedhut gauges first then Jeff XtremeVette "upgrades" them if you will to a custom level. The things he specifically did for me was to remove the "speedhut" and "patent pending" logos from the bottom, as well as making the face a solid color WITHOUT cutouts for the warning lights. They do not come this way from Speedhut and most find the cutouts the only flaw in an otherwise wonderful mod. JWmotoring is a supporting vendor of these gauges and will get you a great price and have a lot of color and design combos to chose from.
The other question asked was if these were stock lighting or reverse glow. They are both. The gauges came reverse glow which really helps light the areas the blacklight doesn't hit in the middle areas of the speedo and tach (especially necessary if you have the aluminum bezels). You need the blacklights as well as the reverse glow because the stock lighting illuminates your needles. Also, the warnings STILL shine through the gauge face when they light up, just not as clearly as before. Maybe I should post pics of that as well soon.
As far as cost, contact JWmotoring or check out their thread they have hyperlinked on the reply above (post #15). After that hopefully Jeff will chime in here soon on what he can do for you as I don't want to speak for him. He is doing these one at a time and by hand after all.
