I posted this over on the Tech section but figure I hit everyone up here as well.
Question for my CA CF brethrens:
My just purchased (last month) '02 Z06 passed CA emissions with a K&N intake and Borla Stingers. I would like to replace the OEM H Pipe with a Borla Crossover X Pipe on the Z to do away with the gurgling sound the car is making under deceleration. Would this mod cause me to fail CA emissions?

Acutally technically yes.. any change to any part of teh exaust system is aginst the rules..... In my last smog exam.. they wanted to look under my car.... doubt if they could tell if it was diffrent but still....

So...if a conscientious fella did peek underneath during next year's test and was observant enough to notice that I had an aftermarket X Pipe, then he would be obliged to fail me even if my smog test came out clean? Wouldn't that have applied to the Borla's as well?

Nothing south of the stock cat position requires a CARB EO#...you're good here. If they look under the car, they're looking for the stock cats. Leave those alone and you're fine.

The exhaust note is a little more refined now with the Borla X-Pipe/Borla Stingers Combo from before with just the stock H-Pipe/Borla Stingers. The gurgling and popping on decel have for the most part gone away. Although the swap was straightforward, I am rather glad I took it to the exhaust shop and did not try to tackle the install myself. It certainly was a 2-man job and you really need to have a lift instead of trying to install it lying on your back.

Next up will be the MGW shifter install...
I put on a Magna Flow x-pipe on my stock exhaust, quiet it up a bit. I heard x-pipe knock the sound down 3 to 5db. But x-pipe flow better and smooth everything out.
