!!!NAPA Low-Profile Service Jack on Sale @ 47% Off!!!
I just got back from NAPA. Bought their "Furious Jack" low-profile service jack for $199, regularly $374. Model NO: 791-6402. Capacity: 2 tons. Low Height: 2-3/4 inches. Raised Height: 19-5/8 inches. It has a round saddle and a Rubber Saddle Pad insert. Sale ends 06-30-2010.
My question: even with the rubber saddle pad insert, should I still buy the "Lifting Pads?" Eckler's has two styles, both the same price: square lifting pads and round lifting pucks. Is one better than the other?

YES!!! You need something to give you space for the body edge that wraps down by the frame rail. The body work actually is slightly below the frame!! The "pucks" act as a spacer to clear the panels!! Sounds like you got a pretty good discount,,still a little pricey for me though!!

Question: Per the owners manual there are points located on the front and the rear suspension for lifting the car. Why does everyone lift on the frame rails? I used the locations on the front suspension to get at the drain plug and then lowered the car while the oil drained out. I had the tire shop use these 4 lift points to raise the car when I had new tires put on.

This NAPA jack looks similar to my harbor freight jack, almost exact same specs too:

NAPA jack & Lifting Pads
I See this is an older post. I found it while looking for Jack info.
anyway, a few pointer/tips regarding the NAPA jack 791-6402 and Lifting Pads in case anyone finds this
- I have been using the NAPA Jack one for over a year and it is a GREAT jack - made in China like all the other HF crap, but better than any other jack I have had, including a $450 alum racing jack! It is not that same jack you get at Harbor Freight - build quality is far superior, and it has a 2 year warranty and Nylon wheels (great for epoxy floors).
about the Lifting pucks for BMW & Vettes. I use regular black hockey pucks. I get them at a local hockey store (Behind the mask) - they are $1 each. I got a dozen at a time. I keep a few in my car in case I need them. On occasion I have given them to people that "need the lift"
They dont have the metal tabs to twist in, but they are good soldid rubber, dont slip, are cheap & work great. I have even cut a fey with grooves to fit other cars - for $1 its worth a try.
