with this setup you could easily have a different X pipe with cats in it and would be just fine then. swap it in and out with 8 bolts.
If this was directed at me Cali doesn't care how clean a car is or whether it passes smog. My Z passes smog just fine with a non "test only" center. A "test only" center will immediately fail the car for visual before they even put it on the rollers. That means each time I get nailed with a "test only" I have to get "creative" which = $$$ or I have to bite the bullit and swap for stock stuff for test. Changing out 2 sets of long tube headers twice in the same year would be
Also can you PM the payment address and how long these prices are good for?
Thanks,
Shane
PM coming!
AIR tubes are for 01-04 years so your passenger side will be 1 primary short. You can either delete it all, extend yours, or replace yours with an 01-04 model
hmmm, length of the primaries? I have never thought to check or been asked! Let me figure it out or call up XSPower and see if I can get you an answer on that! They are 1 3/4" pipes though
Been a little while since the last update. How is it going with the XSPower headers? Mine arrived at my door this week. Having them installed by a shop next Wednesday followed by a tune.
A couple of questions:
- Saw they came with gaskets. Should I get another set from GM (or make sure the shop has them ready to go?). Are the ones sent with the headers good to use?
- Have others experienced the bolts loosening up? One person mentioned needing lock washers? Should I get these pre install?
- Do I plan to just reuse the stock manifold bolts? Or do I have another set ready to go.
I live an hour and fifteen minutes from the shop. They are very experienced GM guys. But I want to make sure we have everything ready to go that day.

I honestly wouldn't use the supplied Gaskets, I would get a set of OEM Gaskets as a back up, you can always return them if yours are reusable.
The only bolts that are problematic for some reason are the Collector bolts. Several customers had theirs loosen us and I actually lost one at the Track... Man did that ever make a racket bouncing along under the car at 120! I put a dab of Red Loctite on each one to keep em in place.
You still need to retighten the Header bolts after a few heating/cooling cycles though...
Reuse your Header flange bolts, no problem using them at all!

I'm running the supplied gaskets with NO problems after many miles. Reuse the stock manifold bolts, just re-torque after a heat cycle or two. Mine haven't loosened a bit. As far as the collector bolts, you can either double nut it( tighten nuts against each other) or get some steel locking nuts( not the ones with plastic in them). I went with the steel locking nuts and no issues. Lock washers and extreme heat usually don't work out so well.
Got the XSPower catted LT's installed today. Overall the shop was impressed with the headers and welds...especially when I told them the price.
Some comments on the install:
1) Shop said the fit was equivalent to when they usually install (Kooks). No problems at all. However they look like they hang down lower under the car behind the oil pan then what I expected from the pictures. Have to look again in the daylight tomorrow. I am lowered so worried about hitting.
2) They used the GM gaskets instead of the supplied gaskets. They always recommend this on all header installs.
3) They took out the rear O2 sensors. There were two O2 sensor bungs to cap the hole that shipped with the headers. However there was a 3rd location that required a bung to cap and I didn't have another. Had to run to a local exhaust shop to get another. Minor annoyance but the shop took it in stride. Not sure how many bungs they ship with?
4) I told the shop about the collector clamp bolts loosening up. Upon inspection, they didn't like the clamps at all. They offered me a higher quality set for $25 which I took them up on
Sound: I had the stock manifolds, Catco high flow cats, X pipe and Corsa Indy's. The XS Power setup mated to the Corsa's is no doubt louder at all volumes but expecially over 2500-3000 rpms. Idle is a bit louder and meaner....less motorboaty...if that makes sense. It does have plenty of burble and pops on decel. It is an aggressive sound, but I like it a lot. Upper RPMs are very loud. But I can control it when needed.
Performance: I had a dyno tune done post install (Dynojet). 02 MN6 LS1 Coupe, 58,500mi. New plugs (NGK) and GM Red wires installed today with the headers. Blackwing intake, Vararam power duct with silicone couplers. Engine is stock. XSPower LT catted headers to the Corsa Indy's. RWHP = 345.8, Torque = 352.18
I didn't do the install of the headers but if can answer any questions please let me know. Thanks to Jon for the great customer service on the ordering of the headers. The "shop" was RPM performance in Garner, NC. Great setup there.
Great review! thanks. As for the clamps, I am in the process of having them include bands to fix that. Only 1 O2 plug is supposed to be included for the Wideband plug in the X in case you do not run a wideband sensor.... I will check and see if in future offroad kits if we can include 3 plugs or ditch the rear O2 bungs completely as sensors back there are pretty much useless without the cats.
Clearance should not be an issue, I doubt you are lower than my car and I have never scraped mine in thousands of miles!
If anyone is on the fence about these headers, I say go for it! I got the catted version for my 02 Z06. Very nice fitment. I reused the stock manifold gaskets. I doubled the nuts and used locking washers; hasn't come loose yet.
I have the headers matted to the stock ti's. The sound is much more "clearer." Less motorboaty as one member said. Sounds mean with a hint of exotic note. Going to dyno in a few weeks.
Best of all was the customer service that Jon provided. I was texting him on his phone on a Sunday for install tips. No hesitation at all on his part to answer my many questions. Real stand up guy!
