Default How to remove a C5 Gas Pedal

I purchased a Aluminum Gas Pedal and want to install it on my C5. Do you think I can remove the OEM Pedal off of the darn car? After some cursing I decided to ask the pros. Can anyone help with this issue.

There is a pin that goes through the back of gas pedal and is basically held in place by pressure of the spring clip. The armature of spring clip extends up an over the top of the main gas pedal lever. Pull back on the armature of the spring and push over to the side so that it is no longer restin on top of the gas pedal lever. This will release the spring tension and then the pin will come right out. Reverse the procedure to install. See below link for some pictures and additional details.

Getting mine off was the easy part. Putting the new one on was a pain. I had to use a mirror and a light.

The trick is not to complete the attachment of the spring until the pin is installed so you're not fighting the spring loaded pedal. Otherwise, one mirror and two hands were not enough...

I got so frustrated trying to remove mine, that I just tore it off. It tears easily.

I installed my new aluminum pedal, and just bought a replacement factory plastic pedal to keep in the bag for if I ever want to go back to it.
