(^^) For the shrouds? (^^)
Consider my record, I suck at time estimates...

That said, I am budgeted for and planning on having 50 sets produced once these prototypes are finished. There will be a short opportunity for design comment by shroudless SunGun owners, but I don't want things delayed anymore than neccesary, especially for the original beta testers.
50 sets (-or- 100 pieces) will cover all the shroudless owners now and leave aprox 10 sets available that I can make available for the complete (with shrouds) SunGuns, possibly later this summer.

The set of prototype(s) pictured above have already begun to be fitted to my headlight lids and shaped around my projectors. I am hoping to have them fitted (primered at least, maybe painted SW) and pictures posted around May 1st.

Why are you painting them if they are CF? Why not clear them?

Michael, hope these get done! Car shows are around the corner and I need this car looking sharp. Just a note on my lights, I have had them over a year and thought I never could get them right. Last week took them apart and the inner lenses were very dirty I think they were like that a long time. Anyway for the first time I can actually say I now have the definitive line and alignment and brightness are superb. Also I think the halos were effecting light and off they went. My guess is the shrouds will fit better anyway. Thanks for not giving up on the project.

Painting the prototypes for two reasons:
-I couldn't keep a uniform weave pattern when tucking the cf around the different contours of the assemblies and projectors. The uneven weave of the cf lay-up will still work great but look like azz if cleared.
-The pictures of the finished product for everyone to see will show up better if painted a solid color. A smooth, even coat of paint will show off the shadows/contours better than clear coated cf with lights reflecting unevenly off the fabric and finish. And it takes forever to grind, sand and polish clear coat...(ok, three reasons...)
The production sets will be cf and you can choose if you paint it or not.

Gary,
I never really stopped working on them but my appologies for the lack of updates this winter. I hope things fall in place quickly once the prototypes are done.
Sweet roadster G! (you guys and your TR vettes... )

Did you happen to take any pictures of the projectors while disassembled for cleaning? I recently swapped out the original Hella projectors I have used thoughout the entire SunGun R/D. These have over 30k miles and they need cleaning and repainting of the bezel. I didn't find any chips in the lens'. I was also thinking of playing with the cut-off shield(s) a bit when apart. I plan to refurbish these as soon as I've pried them out from under the cf/epoxy and 2-part foam...

I can't speak to the halo's and the mounting of it around the end of the bezel. Does it restrict output? I have wondered however about light from the halos interacting (re-inforceing, reflecting, cancelling...?) with light emitted from the lens.

I think that's exactly what was happening (reflecting). The lens have held up nicely and I drive home from work 40 miles 4 days a week. The cut off technology is weird, at first I thought i had the sunguns upside down as the reflector shield is on the bottom (one would think its cutting off upside down) but installed and sure enough its right, the light must refract somehow in the shell. I see LEDs in the near future!

Thanks James.

The four point attachment method works great! They slide right into place.
The eyebrow areas need a little more filling I think. As do the sides.
Always seems like more to do, at least to my eye...

Michael, the pics look great!! The only concern i have is with the tolerances around the openings. They were formed to the way your headlights are mounted/aimed and it's not very probable that the rest of our setups are even close to yours Eh, i guess it'll be a pain in the *** re-adjusting them, but they will look great when done....Keep up the good work!!

Thanks Jim, great to hear from you!
A certain amount of re-adjusting is inevitable I think, even for mine. Also keep in mind this is the first fitting and there are two layers of tape around the lens' and bezels giving the visual impression of less clearance. I made the mistake of heavily taping my bezels to protect them while shaping and fitting the bondo molds last year. The openings ended up appearing a little too big. Worst case I can always add material and reshape.
...gettin' there.
