Audi R8 uses a LED setup for their headlights, it's a multi-bulb/reflector setup that runs something like $7k a set

LOL, I have one of those :

[IMG][/IMG]

Guess I caught mine a second sooner than you caught yours

Mine are in, yes was fairly straight foward, but . . . "&^&^#%$^&* pivot bolts !" and if I drop that $**^%#$ little retaining clip for the large pin that connects the support arm into the inner fender one more time . . .I may sell the car

I have comparison pics, Ill put something together and post it up as soon as I can (multiple projects going on here). I also have some stuff for the install docs.

Just a quick shot, still working on the best adjustment so these are adjusted a slight bit higher than the procedure we have in the docs, ut it gives you an idea of the output.

[IMG][/IMG]

The cups start out at ten foot intervals from the car, the first cross row is at 50 feet, then each row after that is an additional 25 feet (so 75, 100, 125 . . .)

Enjoy

The HELLA's that i took out had the H9 bulb base, so i went ahead and threw them in the HI beams to see what they will look like on the back roads i take to work. If any of you guys know the easiest way for me to get all 6 HIDs on at the same time, i would appreciate the help.
Yup, thats why I was envisioning the shrouds as wrapping around and turning back in (towards the base of the projectors) after attaching to the shroud attachment point closest to the midline of the car, and passing around the bases of the projectors (just oversized holes, no turtlenecking onto the projector surround) then back out to the outer corner. The complication is that it will be required to conform to two primary curves, the first being concave starting from the forward edge of the light cover (as the oems do) to the back of the projectors and then forward to the bumper cover, and the second starting from the shroud attachment point closest to midline, to the back of the projectors then forward to the outer corner.
I hadnt realized that the oem attachment points would have to be taken into consideration when I originally visualized the shrouds.
Im going to screw around with some tin and see if I can work something out, even if its temporary to shield them a little until Mike gets the shrouds done.

And regarding "all six HID's on at once" couldnt you do the Hi/Low on at once mod (posts on it here and also a kit from a forum vendor) in the engine bay fuse panel and just hit the Fog light button?

To tell you the truth, I have Halogen Hi's on mine and when I switch from the HID lows to the highs it looks like i shut the lights off, yes, its that much of a difference. If I pull back on the stalk to flash the highs with the lows already on, the only difference I see is a slight increase in light on overhead road signs. The 4300k HID lows significantly overpower the halogen highs, I dont think Im gonna use them much.

I already have that, the problem is when you flip the HIs on, the fogs go out. I know i saw a thread on here about doing it, but it involved wiring diagrams and resistors or some crap so i got scared.

Mordor . . .the land of Eternal Darkness . . .

Sorry, J.R.R. reference I was just thinking that if HID Lows and highs weren't enough, you may be driving underwater.

We're looking to start a shroudless GP soon. Maybe in the next couple weeks. Just waiting to hear back on availability of everything...

How about shrouds similar to these non-HID lights? Seems like a similar concept.

I like those shrouds, actually. I don't like the fact that they used the smaller lights on the inside and the larger lights on the outside, but the shrouds look pretty good. I especially like the shininess of the shrouds in the top pic.

I agree. I like the silver outer ring of the Sun Guns and the fact that they are the same size. If the shroud could wrap similar to the pics above, the final product would be killer!

Actually, the Sun Guns' high and low beams are two different sizes. The positions are opposite of what you see above with the high beams (larger lights) inboard where there is more room for them. Why those others are reversed just doesn't make sense, unless it's a European requirement.

The shrouds that Michael are designing will be along these lines, as shown in previous posts.

Thanks. I never noticed that! Those CF shrouds look sweet!

I think it may be a European requirement based on the plates on those car models. Similar to those ugly reflectors they need to slap on the rear fascia in addition to the euro tails.
