Need some help with buying. 50th anniversary?
I am currently looking at buying a 2003 Z06. The seller is telling me that its a 50th anniversary edition. I told him he was wrong and that all 2003 corvettes are 50th anniversaries BUT there is a separate 50th anniversary EDITION corvette that only came in coupe and covertible in a dark red with tan interior. His argument is that Kelly Bluebook has a 50th anniversary check box for 2003 z06's. I said to him that if all 2003 corvette are 50th anniversaries, then why would they have that check box on kelly bluebook. He also stated that if they didnt make a 50th anniversary eddition Z06 then why would they have that check box on kelly blue book.
Can someone please come to my defense. Thanks.

See if this helps.

Just the exterior and interior colors will show that is is not an anniversary edition.
A golden tribute
The 50th Anniversary Special Edition, available only during the 2003 model year on coupe and convertible models, is a tribute to a half-century of automotive leadership. It includes special Anniversary Red exterior paint, specific badging, Shale interior and champagne-painted anniversary wheels with special emblems. It also features embroidered badges on the seats and floormats, padded door armrests and grips and the convertible features a Shale top. The package includes Magnetic Selective Ride Control.

What you've stated is correct. While all 2003 Corvettes are technically "50th anniversary" cars, they are not all 50th Anniversary Special Edition cars. The 50th Anniversary Special Edition was dark red metallic with shale interior, and a shale top if it was a convertible. It also had gold wheels, and a bunch of other options as part of the special edition package. The seller of this car is trying to make something out of what amounts to a technicality on an internet site. If he's going to insist on doing this, then my recommendation is that you just go into KBB and run the car, with its mileage, actual options, condition, etc., and use the prices that you come up with in your negotiation.
BTW, he sounds like a moron to me.

You're dealing with an idiot who got taken with the same sales pitch from a dealership. Slap him in the head and take your business somewhere else.

I'd take a pass and buy from someone who knows their own car.
KBB did not fine tune their website. As a matter a fact, through May, they had priced same year C5 Z06's the same, regardless of 1 mile or 49,999 miles on the clock. Finally, starting in June they saw their mistake and made the mods in pricing them.
Yeah if you check click 50th, you get to add abt 3K or so in value to the Z which is in error. At least the got the mileage right.
Have your seller, if you still want to do business with him, read up on another AE discussion http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=2631823

The seller obviously doesn't know as much about the 50th Anniversary editions as he thinks. Anyway, since you know better, if the car is a good deal, make him an offer.

If you checked the car out and its in good shape and you like it, Id settle on a price and make the deal prior to educating him. I mean you're there to buy a car right

I am sure the seller is adding in a premium for the non existent
anniversary package. That is the problem.
