Is Techron a marketing gimick or is it for real?

Do a search here on the forum..........I think you will find many who feel it does a good job keeping things in the fuel system clean.

GM & Fords Dealerships use it prior to working on a fuel injection problem, as per they are told to by Corporate ( or used to a few years ago ) .... really works ...

Yep, pure scam! If you use it, you'll never be a true CF member cuz you won't have the dreaded gas gauge problem.

And NEVER use Seafoam!

When I purchased my '99 FRC, I picked it up in Indianapolis and drove it back to Arizona.

The first place I stopped (besides a gas station) was an autoparts store in IN and bought some of the Techron additive. I just figured it can't hurt.

The best mileage on the return trip was 34.4 mph, so I don't know if that helped, but have heard positive comments from many members, I continue to use it. Sooooooooooo. Good luck.

It cured my fuel gauge problem. 2.5 years later it hasn't come back. I like to use it every few months in all my cars.

I've gone for a few fills without buying Chevron gas and my fuel gauge starts acting up. A tank of 94 octane Chevron with Techron puts it right again.

IMO, it's not a gimmick - it helps keep the sulfur deposits off the fuel sending units. I plan to keep using it.

Guess i'm the black sheep! i tried it 3 times in 3 seperate tanks of fuel and the gauge is still bad it did NOTHING. Wish i could say different, it sucks when you stop and have fuel in the car, then get back in to see the gauge on E!.

I guess I'm a non-believer and feel pretty cynical about marketing gunk.

Use it in wife's car, my truck, for years, I think the date on my Chevron gas card is 1987. A friend laughed the other day when I told him I put half a bottle in my Cub Cadet Zero.....

Saturday,(a couple days after I posted how Everything on my Vette was working as it should) My gas gauge started sticking on "full",and I knew I had between 3/4 and 1/2 a tank.
Sunday,I dumped a jug of Techron in,went for a short drive to slosh things around a bit, then when I started it Monday,it was still stuck on full, but by the time I got to work,it was reading correctly.
Today,it's working fine.
MAYBE it would have "cured" itself without the Techron, but that's not a very common occurance, according to many posts on the forum.
So,I spent $12,and 72 hours later, my gas gauge works again.
That's enough proof for me
