Tire suggestions
I just purchashed a '98 and will need tires soon. I will not drive it in the winter months and am looking for suggestion of the smoothest and quite ride at 70 mph. I plan to take a lot of road trips.
Thanks! Ken

You're going to get a lot of input here,but IMO,for a smooth,quiet ride,you need go with a non-runflat tire.
(so you'll need a 12v compressor,plug kit,etc)
I went with General Exclaim UHP's,and have no regrets-they are a great tire, and do all I need them to do.
Check out Tirerack.com to see what's available-great place to deal with-
Welcome to the Forums -you're going to enjoy that Vette !

My Toyo Proxes T1R's are awesome, but they also came on the car so I haven't had the pleasure of trying anything else yet.
Wouldn't it be nice if we could test drive a set of tires, 1 lap on a local track before we buy? *sigh*

On the run-flat side of the argument, we just bought Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP run-flats and couldn't be happier with them. Much smoother and quieter than the OEM Goodyear's.

Me too. Just replaced the original Goodyear runflats with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S ZP run-flats. Very good tire if you want to have the security of run flat technology.

I have had mine on for about 8k miles and they still look great. They grip very well. I have had mine on a track and alot of mountain runs and I have nothing bad to say about them.

Tire Review
Read this, first!

I am running Yoko S. Drive. They are quite and grip well, wet or dry.
Had Kumho SPT. Wet traction was bad. Just my .02

I agree with the review. There are tires out there that outperform Michelins and at lower cost. My favorites remain the Goodyear GSD3s but some sizes are getting to be hard to find.

We have the same tires on our car and very satisfied.
$1,118. out the door with alignment.
Michelins come standard on the ZR1 and are the Only tire i use on a expensive sports car.

Melting Slicks
i decided to go with the bfg kdw2 though. they have slightly more dry traction, but the road noise is a lot louder.

Corvette owners like the bang for the buck theory so i went with the 2nd on the car & driver performance shootout, Hankook Ventus EVO's i paid $663.00 after the mail in rebate, from America's tire. I just carry a can of (sensor safe) tire sealant/inflator, like i always have before i owned a Vette.
