Default Transported one of our C5 coupes cross country

I took a new job in Southern California a couple of months ago and have been driving a rental Malibu and then a Prius since arriving here while we wait for our new home to be completed and move our houehold here. It was time to bring one of our cars here so I decided to bring the wife's C5 via a transport company. After some online research here and elsewhere, I arranged for Intercity Lines to pick it up at our home in Indiana and deliver to me here in Irvine.

The driver, Todd, arrived at our home right on schedule last Friday at 11 AM. He thoroughly inspected the C5, documented every chip, scratch and flaw and very carefully loaded our precious cargo onto the trailer. He covered it with an almost brand new cover and covered that with plastic.

He called me twice the day before arriving to get the best route in and verify the drop-off location. He then called me 30 minutes before arriving, allowing me time to drive back to my apartment building to take delivery. It only took him three days to make the trip from Indiana to SoCal, including dropping off a couple of cars in Las Vegas to the Barrett-Jackson auction.

The car was in perfect condition, no worse for the long journey. Todd was great and the trip itself was very quick. I would highly recommend Intercity Lines to anyone planning a long-distance vehicle transfer. In fact, they will be moving my C5 here when the time comes, probably in about 6 to 8 weeks from now.

Here are the pics. Mrs. Patches took the Indiana pics and I, of course, took those in the SoCal.

Ready for the new commute (for a little while, at least). Man, it's great to drive a C5 again after driving a Prius.

Welcome to the Western US, Patches! I hope it all works out for you. If you happen to go through Phoenix on your move, I hope you'll stop by and visit, even if it's just to say hello.

Best of luck on the rest of your move!

Glad the car arrived in perfect condition. Now you can enjoy driving the car - much better than a Malibu.

What did they charge you for the move? I'm preparing to pick up my son's C-5 which use to be mine and have it brought to me next month. We're keeping it in the family.

Lucky you.. I just had my car shipped to me from Texas to Florida (also took a new job and moved) and the moving company must've had a field day with it. Passenger side quarter panel was rubbed up against something, huge paint chips missing from the hood and the rocker panels are beat to all hell. This was in a closed carrier nonetheless. I should've known better when the dude pulled up to my house in an open carrier and said that it'd be transported to their hub using that instead of a closed one.

I'll never use Dependable Auto Shippers again. It's taking forever for them to just process my claim too.

It's good to hear a good story about transport companies as you hear so many horror stories about them.

Mrs. Patches, while undeniably overjoyed to have her C5 safely transported o'er to Patches and our new hometown-to-be, is having a hard time surviving the anguish of 'Vettelessness. Anyone have a loaner?

He put it in neutral and pushed it into position when he was loading it so he didn't need to climb out of it. He did have to climb in when he pulled it out on delivery because he couldn't push on the brake pedal to release the shifter (A4) from outside the car. He was extremely careful and laid towels and plastic all over the seats and body before doing so.

Sorry to hear this. I would feel horrible if this had happened to Mrs. Patches' pride and joy. Best of luck in the claim and repair process.

Oh, yeah - that other house (two, actually, but I digress). The first seller was disingenuous in his representation of the house which was revealed in my 15-minute inspection when I finally arrived here to do one. I immediately embarked on a nearly 2-month search for Mrs. Patches', the puppies' and the stable's new abode. It is a spec home which I caught halfway into its birthing, and so, this weekend during her brief vist here, Mrs. Patches only got to pick the floors and wall paint. Nevertheless, it will be a beauty with a glorious rear view of an expansive valley and mountain range, situated just west of Lake Elsinore. The wife, upon touring the new house, neighborhood and town said that I "done good" finding the new Bonstead. I will, of course, post pics upon closing.

Bill, you are always a welcome guest in our home. You only need to plan a trip out west and let us know when you'll be landing.
