Anyone have pictures of what to hook to on the 04?
the 04 is different than the rest of the C5's and so far it has been in a bad way.
Every change they made seems to have made the car worse or more difficult to work on.

Ok. this is not working for me.
I cannot get any power to the radio.

Here is how I have it wired up.
I installed the mini fuse tap into the fuse box and wired the RED wire from the vet1 plug.
I also tried it straight from the radio. Neither way worked.
I also tried the YELLOW wire that has BATTERY written on it straight into the Fuse box. No luck.

Do you see any issues with my wiring? What about my ground wire? I just ran it black to black.

you dont have the red wire from the RADIO as I list connected to the passenger footwell

This is what you connect the mini fuse to and plug in

where did you connect the fuse to?

Yes I do. I just connected it differently.

Ii just taped them together on the connectors and ran the red wire you see in the bottom right of the picture to the footwell.
When it did not work, I tried it your way. Still did not work.
The red wire coming out of the VET1 connection would not be used otherwise correct?

I can get power to the radio by switching between the red and yellow wire.

I cannot get power to the radio by turning the key on.

Well @#^&%^

i think the fuse tap is bad.
I plugged it in and I am getting nopower from it when I turn the key to ACC or ON

If I test straight from the fuse plug without the tap, I get no power when I turn the key to ACC but I do get power when I turn the key to ON.

BUT
The car will not start now and it is flashing SECURITY on the dash.

any idea how to get rid of that? This is turning in to a nightmare.
Had I lived closer to you I would have just brought it to you to install.

as I said
you have it wrong
connect the red from the radio to the footwell
yellow to yellow
black to black
orange white to HVAC yellow
match all colored speakers wires from radio to pac harness
plug in both connectors
your done

there is a reason I say to do it the way I have it.

Its really easy if you follow my directions exactly you would be done in 10 minutes.
Your now connecting wires I do not say to do and you have issues.

You have prob blown a fuse somewhere as well with your messing with wires.

It is now connected exactly as you stated except for the HVAC wire.
I only need to do that if I want the dimmer correct?

Other than the red wire and the orange white not being used, everything else in the picture is correct I believe.

I have the connectors plugged in to the ones that fit.
I can only assume they are the correct ones.

When you turn the key to ACC is the radio supposed to come on?

I have everything hooked up exactly as shown minus the HVAC/Orange/white wire as you show.

Fuse #22 does not give any power when I turn the key to ACC.
It does when I turn the key to ON though.

All of my wiring was correct from the start. My fuse tap that I bought does not work. If I wire directly in to #22 the radio works. That was my whole issue.
The tap is bad.

I don't want to use the dimmer on my radio. So If I do not need it for the ACC to work, I am just not going to hook it up.
Do I have to have that wire hooked up for anything other than the dimmer?

My problem at the moment is that the radio does not come on when I turn the key to ACC. It only comes on at the ON position.

Thanks for helping me out with this. Your customer service is beyond amazing.
I think I might upgrade to a double din in the near future. I will probably be needing a bezel from you.

Ok. well I am stuck. If anyone has anything to add I would love to hear it.

The #22 fuse only has power coming out of ONE side of it. The other side of it does not have power.
If you put a fuse in it, I can touch the tops of both sides of the fuse and it has power.

When I put in the mini fuse tap, there is NO power coming out of it.
Whether the key is off, on , or on acc, there is no power coming out of the tap.
I took the first one back, got a new one, still does not have power coming out of it.

If I hook the red wire directly into the #22 power side, the radio will work when I turn the key to ON.

So I have absolutely no clue what the hell the issue is.

Do you have to put a fuse in the tap for it to work? I tried that and it still did not work.
I am fairly mechanically inclined. I have restored vehicles from the ground up.
Electricity was always my weak point though.

Ok. Back to this.
I got the car running again

The #22 fuse space on my car does not have power coming out of it unless I turn the key to ON. Even then, it only has power from the bottom side of the plug.

On my fuse panel, #11 is my Accessory fuse.
If I check this one it has no power.
When I turn the key to Acc it gets power.

I absolutely cannot get power to come from the #22 fuse space unless I turn the key to ON. If I put the mini fuse tap in it, it has no power coming out of it even when I turn the key to on.

Is it different on the 04 perhaps?

I quit.

Tried everything I can think of. It's an older radio. There is no parking wire and I cannot move the yellow/black wire because there is nowhere to move it to.
Maybe that has something to do with it.

Time to put it back together and take it to a professional.
Or maybe just buy a different radio and try again a different day

I apologize for ruining this thread.

Hey Travr6, check post #5. ChrisRTA has an 04 as well, and he says he had to use the wiring from the ignition switch because he doesn't have the power source wiring from the passenger footwell that Dennis is referencing. Maybe a pm to ChrisRTA will prompt him to share exactly which wire he used.

If you have access to and know how to use a multimeter or voltmeter, you can check which wire has 12 volts in the acc/on position.

Come on man, don't give up now, you're SO close!!!
Sounds like you've got everything working except power in the ACC position. All you have to do is find a 12volt switched source. Use the wires that go directly into the switch and you'll find it.

If you don't have a meter, just expose the switch wiring, turn the ignition to acc and touch the "remote" wire from the radio to the ignition switch contacts until you get life. Turn the ignition switch back to "off" and make sure the radio turns off with it.

You're right there man! Stick with it!

I found the acc fuse. When you switch the key to acc it powers on.
BUT, when I put the fuse tap in it, turn the key to acc, no power comes from the tap.

On the fuse box, all of the power comes from the bottom side of the fuse.
There is no power to the top of the fuse unless there is a fuse in it.

It's almost like the fuse tap does not connect the two.

I can't get power to come out of the fuse tap.

Why do you even need a fuse tap? Run the wire straight to the acc wire on the switch, connect it, and call it a day. No fuse necessary for the switched wire going to the radio. If there is a fuse recommended/required, it's on the constant 12v side.
