Another Intercity Lines X-country C5 Delivery
A few weeks ago, I had Intercity Lines transport Mrs. Patches' C5 from Indiana to Southern California where we'll be making our final move to in a couple of weeks. That delivery went quite well with Mrs. Patches' pride-n-joy arriving here in perfect condition. Of course, I posted about it:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...s-country.html
We sold our house in Indiana days after her Vette was shipped so I called Intercity again to bring my C5 here so my lift could be dissassembled for the move. I flew back to Indiana last Thursday for 4 days to prep the car and lift and to get the house ready for closing.
Intercity came through again. My C5 was delivered in pristine condition exactly where I requested it to be - a storage facility where it'll sit until our new home is completed at the end of the month.
Ready to go in Indiana
Rob, the driver, lowering the ramp with me observing and acting as the spotter when he drove the car on the ramp
It was starting to get dark by the time we were ready to load the car. We went over the car to note any exisiting scratches/chips
Finally on the ramp . . .
. . . and into the trailer.
Covered and ready to go
Rob is incredibly strong - he didn't bother using the hydraulics to lift the ramp back up, prefering to lift it manually.
Mrs. Patches saying goodbye for now
Rob turned the rig around and sped off into the night.
This morning in Irvine, Rob showed up as promised.
Unloaded the Vette
It barely fit through the storage unit door but I squeezed it in covered it up and locked it up for a couple of weeks.
I want to thank Jim, Sharon, Nickie, Todd and Rob at Intercity Lines for making these transport events damage-free and for showing such care and consideration for us and our beloved C5's.
I highly recommend you call Intercity if you have a vehicle you care a lot about and need to transport it. And let them know you're a CF member for a discount.

Thanks for the positive comments. I'm sure we all know what a tough thing it is for most of us to put the responsibility for our C5 in the hands of another. I did it twice in the last month and was totally satisfied with the results.

Nice to see they took such good care of your car. If I ever need to have my car transported, I'll keep them in mind.
And, good luck with the move to CA.

Did they move your car once it left you? It looks like it was on the top when it left and on the bottom when it arrived. It makes sense but you really have to trust them because they are moving it around without you being there able to see it. It's one thing when you can observe as they load it but then scary when you think they (or another employee) is moving it around where nobody is there to see. That's why it pays to have a well recommended operation take care of it. I hadn't thought of the interim moves (though it's pretty obvious they need to do so when you think about it) and I had a bit of a pucker factor when I saw the pic of yours in a different position when it arrived.
glad it all worked out and we have good info on a company to trust.
Take Care, Ed. Good luck getting settled. You'll be able to drive that Vette more than you used to! Just noticed the temps are getting a little cold for my tires. Slid around a bit the other morning.
