I don't have particularly big hands, but I think anyone who could get their hand through, at least on a Z06, would need to have "itty-bitty" hands. So I shifted to removal of the black plastic cover and the hood support screw, which took very little time, and that made access to the light socket very easy.

Hi! Our next club meeting I'll check with our Z06 guys. Sorry it didn't work for you, but very happy you were able to take care of it with another members suggestion. Thats what the Forum is all about, isn't it great! Best wishes!

Speaking from experience, the easiest way to swap the turn signal bulbs is from the top. My arms are far too large to squeeze into the tight spots. Remove headlight, swap bulbs, reinstall headlight. 10 minute job.

10 minute job for each side that is...

If your hand won't fit, get your wife or that little kid who lives next door to do it. It's real quick and easy and you don't take anything apart, or get your arm crushed when the headlight closes on you.

Disconnect the negative battery terminal, and the headlight won't go anywhere.

Thanks, Al
Junkman video for non Z06 C5's. It really is by far the easiest in my opinion. Nothing to remove, no tools, no jacking. Only thing I would add thats not in the video (I think) is to coat your wrist area with mineral oil, vaseline etc so you don't abrade your skin. Check it out, very easy! Best wishes!

I just changed out my driver's side turn signal bulb going in through the brake duct hole earlier this morning. It took all of 5 minutes. Yes my hand got stuck for a few seconds but it was a quick and painless change. It was also the least expensive change.

Easy if you have small hands.

I can't wait 'til the driver's side burns out.
Sir, see the youtube junkman video, worth its weight in gold! Don't need any tools, lifts, jacks or removing anything. You can do this in the gas station driveway in the time it takes to gas your car. PS Great on C5's, not so much on Z06> Best wishes!

The procedure in the video work but its the opposite direction he say, to remove counter-clock wise and to put it click wise.

Default C5 front turn signal bulb replacement

Start the car. Raise the headlights. turn the headlight switch back one turn to keep the lights up. Shut off the car. Raise your hood. Remove the 3 screws on the black wind guard around your head light. Make sure you store the 3 screws securely to insure so you don't loose them. You now will be able to easily reach all of the bulbs associated with your running lights and turn signals. This is real easy. Remember that there is a release lever on the light bulb plug that needs to be pushed in to get the plug out of the light box. Slowly pull the bulb out of the plug and replace it with the new 3157 NA bulb. Test the directional signal to make sure it works. When it does reverse the process and move on. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. Good luck

My driver side bulb is constantly burning out. Is this due to getting fingerprints on the bulb?

I seriously doubt it. Those bulbs don't care. I'd say you have something else going on if yours keep dying.

Have you noticed if they blow out after a rainy day? If yes, it could be your housing is damaged by the bulb's heat and you need to replace/repair it.

After reading and re-reading the various suggestions -- went with this method.
Having skinny arms and a cool engine compartment certainly helped.

Thanks

Always good to keep a thread alive. ..
I've gone for a two bulb approach, extraction from above and reinsertion via the brake duct. I could only get all glass bulbs, which are thicker at the connectors. The first one popped out of the connector during reinsertion and into the light unit! I just couldn't face removing the light so rammed the second bulb into its holder (which I think is the hardest part of the whole process) and got it into the light.

It all works and I can't hear it or see it I'll get it out when I fit the fixed unit .
