Default Changing front turn signal bulb

I know this is silly, but how do you change the front blinker bulb. I look under the hood and can't even see down that far.
Thanks, Al

I just raise the headlights, remove the black bezel and reach down there

When you're down there, don't forget to put in the additive:

You know, if you go to get your oil changed, they'll usually replace the blinker for free...

I have mine done pretty much every oil change. Thanks GM!

I found it easiest to change the turn signal bulbs from under the car. If you have ramps it is an easy job. Once the car is on the ramps, you will see a panel directly under the turn signals. Remove this panel (there are 5 bolts) the bulb will be directly above. If you do not have ramps, then jack up the car at the jacking points, be sure to place jack stands prior to crawling under the car. FWIW, it really is an easy job.

Just push aside the brake cooling duct, reach in and pull the bulb. Takes about 3-1/2 minutes. You dont even have to raise the hood!

You'll get three suggestions

Go in through the brake ducts - not easy with a Z06 or if you have screens

Go in through the bottom by taking out the bottom panel

The one that works for me is:

Turn on the headlights and back off one position to kill the lights.
Unscrew the 3 small screws on the black plastic housing around the headlight. Gently pull the housing clear. Reach down around the headlight unit and release the bulb holder. It comes out by turning the bulb holder a ¼ turn counter clockwise but it has a plastic clip which you need to squeeze to release it. Here’s how the bulb fits into the lamp unit. The DRL bulb is the lower of the two.

Here’s the light socket. This one’s after market but it gives you the idea. You can see the clip you need to squeeze.

Change the bulb. It’s a push fit into the lamp holder. Push it home firmly but don’t handle the glass. Use latex gloves if you have them. Reseat the bulb holder and turn clockwise until it clicks back in place. Put the plastic headlight housing back in place making sure to locate the small plastic tab in the bracket on the headlamp cover. Replace the 3 screws and close the lights.

It’s a 10 minute job. Some guys have had the lights close if they’ve taken a while to do the fix. If you’re worried about that, disconnect the battery once the lights are up.

The bulb is a 4157NA

Some guys with big arms remove the hood adjusting screw for better access. Guys with even bigger arms have had to take off the headlight cover. Four torx screws (2 back, 1 each side). Take the back ones off first with the lamps down. Raise the lights and take the side ones out.

Geezuz, Joseph & Mary what a PITA THAT was. I had to take the tire off to get at two more bolts so I could get the panel right off. Then getting my arm in there......then getting that stupid tab squeezed.....even putting the bulb housing back in took me 25 tries. - What a headache I have.

I can't wait 'til the driver's side burns out.

This seems to be the hardest way possible to change that bulb !!

This is how I do it. You may also be able to do it as mentioned in post 4 above.

There's two bolts in the wheel well that my tools couldn't get to with the tire in place (or turned). So I took the flippin' tire off. I needed that panel clean off the car.

Next time I'm trying through the headlight. I mean, how much worse can it be?

I just installed some led's in the turn signal housing by the headllght up and black housing removed and that was by far the easiest way to do it. 3 screws and its right there. I wouldnt bother attempting it any other way
