Looking for rear tires & have narrowed it down to these 2 in the 295/35/18 size. Anyone have experience with either of these? Interested in dry & wet traction, noise, wear.
Don't have a comparison for you but just yesterday I decided on Invo's for myself. Ordered up 4 from Discount Tire Direct (18s front 19s back). I can pass along the person's name and extension that I dealt with if you choose to go that route. I felt like he gave me a pretty reasonable deal.
I've sworn by the UHPs for my other cars. I have them on:
G35 <was a canyon crazy/daily driver, now my daughter has it as a DD.
IS250 <daily driver
944 <autocrossed
slk230 <daily driver and part time canyon crazy
and I'll be putting them on the fronts of my Z06. I have RA-1's on the rear. Nice quiet tire.
Wet weather traction is phenomenal. Dry is outstanding. Price is better than both put together. Can't compare because I've never used the Invo's
I hear good things about the Generals & mixed on the Invo's. They are about equal in cost. I've done some searching & I'm now leaning towards the General UHP's.

I have the INVO's (325/30/19) on the back of my ZO6. Been 2 months now, pretty happy with them. No experience with the General but I feel Nitto has more experience in the performance tire market.
I have the Invos, and over 600 RWHP, so as you can imagine, they spin pretty easily. I do like their cornering ability, and rain traction. I live in an area that doesn't see alot of rainfall, and I'm usually hesitant to take the Z, when it's wet. On the occasions of there being no choice, they performed quite well, IMO. I was at the point of deciding between these very two brands, because they're both available in 325-30/19s, which I wanted. I chose Invos over the Generals, only because of some bad reviews I read, in which the UHPs were reportedly "squishy" while cornering hard. In other words, the sidewalls were too flexible, according to a couple of reviews, and that swayed me in the direction of the Nittos. I can't tell you about the Generals, having never tried them. Good luck.

Yes I heard the same thing about the Generals with soft sidewalls. I guess the Invo are a little stiffer? I wonder if the softer sidewalls help in straight line traction. I know there is always a trade off in high performance tires. I have a set of M/T DR's for drag racing so I'm not even going to expect anything like that in a street tire. I just want to optimize my choice. I have the toyo proxies on the back now & after getting 35,000 miles of use I would have to say they were pretty long lived. They hooked for Sh+t though if I got into the pedal hard (~370RWHP). I would like something with more bite than those.
I guess nobody here has heard of the Vredestein Sessantas. They are considered by many here and in test comparisons I've seen in European magazines to be one of the best tires now available, even when compared to the Michelin PS2's, the benchmark of max performance tires. I've got PS2's myself and will be changing to the Vreds very soon. On top of the fact of their performance ratings, they are probably one of the least expensive tires now available.

And also Continental has a newish model out that's supposed to be all that, and cheap. Probably not as cheap as the Vreds, though.
I have the Generals on my Z. The only tire I can compare them to is the stock Goodyears F1's. The Goodyears corner flatter than the Generals. With that said, my speed on a certain 180 degree Interstate ramp is about the same with the Generals, I just experience a bit more tire sidewall roll. The acceleration from standing offers better grip with the Generals. To be honest, after the first week of driving I no longer noticed the increased sidewall flex. The wet weather handling is better with the General, the dry weather handling is better with the General. Now that we've had a cold spell here in NC, the cold weather grip of the Generals is about the same as the Goodyears. You have to be very careful with the Go pedal or the tires will break loose.
All in all, after 12,000 miles, I'd still buy the Generals again. They are a very good all purpose tire. I don't track the car, only spirited street driving and daily commuting weather permitting. I would be inclined to try the Vredesteins if they can be found at a similar price to the Generals in this area.
I will be around 600rwhp and have 19 ccw's. I need new tires and have been real close to pulling the trigger on Invo's 305 30 19's but this may sway me.

I have the Generals on the front(285/35/18) and so far I love them. I swapped out Toyo T1-R's for the Generals and didnt really notice much of a difference at least in the front. I just ordered a set for the back so i'll really be able to give a good comparison then.
As far as price, the Generals are significantly cheaper than the Invos (Generals -$215ea VS Invos - $335ea) Thats at 325/30/19. As for the Vredestein Sessantas, I've herd nothing but good things but they dont come in the sizes I want. Also, The tread wear rating on the Invos is a 260 which is a much softer rubber than that of the 380 of the generals which means they will wear out much faster.
I have had the vredesteins both models when they made them. This would be a no brainer for me if vreds came in more sizes as mentioned. I'm more concerned about traction. I won't be tracking the car with these tires but would rather not spin at 60 mph when passing the pesky mustang every now and then.
I don't have a Z06. However, I do have a nicely moded Z51 that puts down 405 RWHP and 402 RWTQ. The UHP's hold up real nice. The price is nice on the wallet as well!!

Hey Bud,
Do you know where you got those stone flaps from? (You can't call them mud flaps, as hopefully the Z will never see mud... ). I'd like to limit the damage to my rear brake ducts from stones.
