Got Corbeau A4s in leather and wanted them to look like OEM Z seats, so had a vinyl sticker cutter kiosk at the mall make these for a couple bucks.

^That looks fantastic. I need to stop thinking up justifications for replacing my great condition stock seats. I wish I had black interior...

Spring is in the air, somewhere. I'm sure of it.

Just not in the Northeast.

Time for some spring-time no-cost, low cost mods.

Low cost alternator cover. $6 piece of carbon fiber vinyl off of Ebay. Cover fabbed from a piece of sheet metal out of the shop.
Start....big, ugly alternator

Made a template from poster board

Template made

Scrap piece of sheet metal

Cut the metal out with a jig and a NEW blade

Taped lines for a cleaner cut

Cover cut out

Bent to shape and test fit

Final mod....cover after I covered it with the carbon fiber vinyl wrap

If you look at this pic..

It looks like he has drilled and tapped 2 small holes in the alternator bracket just above the joint.

You can see the screws in the top of the cover in this pic

Never been able to figure out why this cut out was on the inside of the hood, but I made this to give it a bit of a finished look. It's made from black acrylic, I cut a paper templet then cut the acrylic with a band saw. The hood is convex so I had to heat up the acrylic a little with a heat gun and mold it over my leg to shape that fit. Best part is I made several and put different decal/emblems on them. Attached with 3m Velcro strips and they can be switched out depending on what show I'm going to.

Yet another cheap and easy mod using sheet metal and carbon vinyl wrap. I have been looking for a plenum cover for some time, but I am not a bling bling, chrome kinda guy. So I made this today, the cover is secured down with an L bracket bolted on the bolt on the top of the throttle body, it is pretty dang secure. It isn't going anywhere.

How does the CF vinyl hold up to the engine heat?

The vinyl should be ok as long as direct heat isn't on it. I had to hold my heat gun on it for about 6 seconds an inch away to discolor it. My concern would be the adhesive giving and unwrapping. Superglue is necessary on all the edges to keep them secure

OK, so I just sat here for the last 2 hours reading through this and I have decided that I found my new forum. Let me explain... I just sold my 69 C-10 and bought a 98 Vette. I have been super active on the C-10 forum, but now I need a Vette Forum and this looks like one of the best ones. I will post pics of my new vette in a few minutes somewhere more appropriate in the forums, but love the write ups in here. I will be doing the plasti-dip on the rear and maybe the front very soon, as well as blacking out all of my lights... I will post when it is done...

I did the same thing. When I purchased my Vette the guy gave me a cover and it had tire wet on it. Great post.

Wanted to offer my welcome as well. While posting anywhere is ok, new members ususally start a new thread and post their pics there as its a bit easier for all of us to locate and enjoy the pics. If your avatar is your car, well, it's my twin. I have a white 98 as well and I live in Edmond. Welcome to the forum. The guys here are the most helpful that I've ever encountered. You'll enjoy it here. I rarely go a single day without reading and checking in at the CF.
