I can buy fuel without ethynol and of course fuel with ethynol. Fuel without ethynol only costs about $.20 a gallon more. I try to put non ethynol fuel in the boat but sometimes I buy it for the vette too. I have recently heard that mixing gas with mtbe and gas with ethynol can cause sludge to form in the fuel tank. Some states have banned mtbe and some have not, so gas with mtbe is still available in the U.S.
I have read a lot of mixed comments about mixing the different types of gas. Since some of our vettes are not daily drivers, a tank of fuel can last for several weeks. Most have said not to mix the two. Though vettes have plastic fuel tanks, the corrosion caused by ethynol may not be a problem, but has any one had an issue with mixing gas with mtbe and gas with ethynol?
