Any Single DIN Flip Down DVD pictures??
Hi guys, Im not really big into sound systems and whatnot, but I have been wanting to be able to play burned CDs (bose system wont read em) and DVDs would be nice too, I know there are some really nice double din setups out there but Im not looking to spend that much on a sound system. I've found a few single din flip down systems within my price range and was wondering if any of you had them on your C5s? Id like to see how it looks, figured I could install it at the top of where the 1.5 din oem unit goes and theyd cover the space below and end up looking kinda like a double din anyway, didnt want a flip -up type because I dont want it to block my A/C or get hit with the heater during winter. Thanks!

I would call Dennis at Double D mods he has a sick special for a 6 or 7" double din for like 3XX shipped. You will keep everything like heater and all that good stuff. He is the man to talk to. Even the el cheapos from Walmart are mid 300's. I had a flip up and it still was nice and toasty in the winter. Also just cause you have a differnt radio doesn't mean you have to have a "system" You can by a radio for 80 that has rca outputs that can be connected to a amp. That's just the normal standard even in crappy radios.

This is the second or so time I've heard this, but I have a stock bose system in my '03 with the 12 changer and becuase I'm cheap , I have only played burned CD's in it, unless I'm missing something in what I've heard, mine works perfectly.

Yeah Ive looked at his stuff and they are very nice and well priced, the systems I'm looking at only cost around 160-200$ though. Nothing fancy at all, but they will play dvds and my burned cds. I just want to make sure it wont look bad mounted that way.

Yeah mines a 99, I think it may have somthing to do with it being older, believe me, Ive tried every brand or CD-R, CDRW, etc.. And Ive burned them at every different speed on 3 different burning programs.. No dice, I wouldnt replace it if even onna those tries had worked rather spend the money on go-fast items anyday

I've never seen a flip-DOWN type but it seems it may be an issue with your shifter (A4 only in park, but M6 in half the gears).
I double the mention for Dennis at Double D. He has a huge selection and is an authorized dealer in a lot of brands. Great place to narrow the field and get a great price.

Oh, and are you burning mp3 or standard CDa format? I think CDa is more successful in the stock head unit.

I also have the Bose CD HU with the 12 disc changer in the rear. All I play is burned cds, never had a problem playing them. Lucky, I guess. Never have seen a flip down either.

I'm surprised that there are not any 1.5 DIN, slightly smaller screen NAV or IPOD interactive head units out there. I know GM wanted to force buyers to upgrade to their brand units, however our C5 Corvettes are not the only cars out there with 1.5 DIN head units.

I have one in mine. It's made by power acoustics. It's discontinued, but there are new models just like it. It's a single dinn. I will see if I can find the link that Mike Mercury originally made; he is whom I got the idea from.

I assume youmean flip-out Tv for your dash? Yes it will fit all you need is the correct mounting bracket and wiring harness adapters. One thing though if your watching the dvd it blocks your ac vents in the dash.I have a jensen in my car,its acheaper unit but i havent had any issues with it.

Nice. If you don't mind me asking how does the 5.3" screen fit and work for you? I have the 4.3" screen in mine and it seems to fit the cutout perfect. Love it so far but would go with the 5.3" if it still fits in the original console cutout nice. Mike inspired me as well after I read that writeup.
