So my check engine light came on this morning while driving to work. I noticed no difference in driveability and thought it could be something small. Driving home, i noticed a weird rattling noise i usually hear may be a bit louder than normal? not sure, could be paranoia. I floor it, seems a bit sluggish and i begin to worry, again i could be a bit paranoid but it felt a bit off. I pull into my driveway, let it idle, and pop the hood and can't figure out what's going on. too late to take it to a shop, too on a saturday. I pull out my oil dipstick and halfway up the dip stick looks charred and burnt, and smoke was coming out of the tube for the dip stick. now i'm really worried and have no clue what's going on, any advice or anyone else had this issue?
Don't need a scanner, hold the options button and hit the fuel button 4 times and you can check the code the hit options one more time then you can hold reset to clear the code.
so the p1416 code apparently is for air system bank 2, and i'm guessing why the check engine light came on. there are a few codes for sensors, i have aftermarket wheels so nothing big....loss of communications to bcm, pcm and ipc? i don't know if that matters. key cylinder switch fault (no idea what that means), battery #1 and #2 fault (car wouldn't start at dealership because battery died, they gave us a new one for free, does this matter?) I guess my main concern is the air system bank 2 code?
so sensor #2 is the driver or passenger side one? please say driver i'm going to go run outside and spray some carb cleaner in the driver side one and let it run for a minute. is this issue a big deal at all or no? also, should i clear my codes after or will the check engine light turn off by itself once the valve is cleaned/replaced?
the car seems to be a bit sluggish to me. like i said it may be paranoia but does this code not really effect anything? and won't it just keep coming back on?
thanks guys i really appreciate the quick responses. cleared the code, drove it around the block, still burning out like crazy in first in second and light didn't come back on. i'm going to clear them all and unplug the battery later.
Is this the first time you've driven it in awhile? I stored my Z06 all winter, and when I got it out for the first time, the check engine light came on. After I drove it awhile, it went out.
so, the check engine light comes on, you floor it to see if it is ok, bunch of codes, you are scared, clear codes, do some burning out in first and second......
i hope nothing is broken but i doubt if doing testing the way you are is helping.

can you try not to post on my threads anymore? you're really never helpful at all you just make smart *** comments. the check engine light came on, i was educated on which were history codes and which were current, i cleared the current code after finding out it didn't really matter, unplugged battery, drove it and floored it to see if it still felt sluggish at all and it didn't. get off my case, and once again, you're not helping at all.
