The most quiet and comfortable C5 tires are???
I still have the original run-flat tires on my C5 Annie. I mostly use it for cruising and trips, and I'm tired of the tire noise and harshness over tar strips. I'm not worried about running regular tires either (I have a cell phone and Coach-net).
What are the tires I should be considering??
Thanks for your help.

I like my BF Goodrich g-force Super Sports, they were reasonably priced and much nicer-riding than the run-flats. They do seem noisy over most of the pavement around here, but are dead-quiet over some surfaces, so don't know if another tire would be quieter overall.

At stock hp levels.. General Exclaim UHP. I swear by these tires. Excellent wet and dry, quiet, smooth, grip like crazy. In the last three years, I've put them on my:
Lexus IS250
Porsche 944
Mercedes SLK230
Infiniti G35
I would have them on the front of my Z but they were back ordered on the size and I couldn't wait. (rears are Toyo RA1s). I ended up with some Nitto's on there, which work well and I'm pretty happy with. I haven't pushed them yet though. With the exception of the Lexus, I push the other cars pretty hard and they are exceptional. Best of all.. reasonably priced.
BTW, in a couple weeks, these tires will be going on my SLK55 (which is about the same hp/tq as a C5 coupe).

Michelin Pilot Sport AS plus ZP....still run flats, but 50 mile run flat as opposed to the Goodyear F-1's which are 200 mile run flats. Much, much better ride!

Like night and day! If I had known the difference in "ride quality" I would have done it a year ago when I bought the car. My F-1's are in the attic with lot's of tread left on them.

I have Bridgestone Potenza RE050A (Non Run Flat) and they are real quiet and smooth -
But if you do not want to break the bank and get a smooth tire, quiet ride and comfort - like stated above, it is the :
General Exclaim UHP
Excellent tire for the cost!
Thanks,Matt

I had GSD3s. They were amazingly quiet for the first 20k miles. They got a little noisy after that.
I went to NT555s... which after about 1500 miles are as noisy as the worn out GSD3s...
I have the Conti DWS on my wrx. also pretty quiet, decent traction but you won't mistake them for a summer tire and they shimmy when cold.

I can answer this one!! Unbeknown to me,,when I bought my car,,it had a slightly misaligned front end,,and my fronts wore out long before the rears. I had decided I was going Micheline when the time came.Being a bit frugal, and the rears had a lot of tread left,,I got the fronts first. Shortly after,,we took a trip to visit the wife's sister in Atlanta, about a 630 mile trip. On a stretch of concrete highway,I became aware of an odd sensation. I realized that I was hearing thump, thump, thump, and realized that I was only really hearing single thumps from the rear tires. Sure there was a lighter thump coming from the front,,but I was amazed at the difference in sound!! Initially I only sensed the single thumps coming from the rear,,the difference was that pronounced!!! I got the matching rears the following summer,,,I'm pleased with them!!

Last summer they were $804 shipped from Discount Tire Direct then I received a $70 rebate. Net $734.
I love them.

It looks like the choice is between General Exclaim UHP, Michelin Pilot Sport AS plus ZP, or or the "regular" Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus.
I wonder how much difference in noise between the regular and the run-flat Pilot Sport AS plus tires there is.

They are night and day difference and heads above the OEM Good Years in comfort, quiet, treadwear and wet handling!

The reason the Generals are back-ordered is because they have been discontinued - the only way you will be able to purchase them is by hunting around trying to find what retailers have left in stock...

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the Nitto Invos. http://nittotire.com/index.html#index.tire.invo
They're like the most perfect daily driver tire out there.
