Winter In July
Went for a nice little cruise today from Ft. Collins CO to Medicine Bow National Forest in WY. The scene looked like mid March. There were snow mobiles going up the mountain, snow boarders and skiiers going down the mountain! Weird but very cool. Still a lot of snow in them there Rockies!

Looks nice. There's still quite bit of snow in the mountains here in Washington. Some of the roads that normally open in June are still closed.

We went shopping yesterday and at one store they were playing Christmas music for a Christmas in July promotion and sale .

I was reading in the local paper that there is a resort in the Sierra Nevada that will be open on the 4th of July for snowboarding and such, I bet we still have a good 15 plus feet in the higher elevations.
Ski resorts from California to Colorado opened for the weekend to take advantage of an unusual combination of dense lingering snow from late-season storms in the Sierra Nevada and the Rockies and a high-pressure system ushering in warm air from the east.
Resort operators Saturday reported large crowds, balmy temperatures and plenty of bare skin.
"I've seen bathing suits, funny costumes like Hawaiian skirts and silver sequined pants. Shorts are very standard today," said Rachael Woods, a spokeswoman for California's Alpine Meadows, which has offered Independence Day skiing just one other time in its 50-year history. "People are coming off the slopes and putting on flip-flops."
