Low profile floor jack

This is an abjectly stupid discussion. If you are getting under any car with just the hydraulic jack for support then you deserve to have the car dropped on you so that the human gene pool will improve. You shouldn't even crawl under the car to set jack stands with nothing more than the jack in place. Use the side jacking points for the jack stands. I also agree with the person who pointed out that the great bulk of hydraulic jacks, whether they are purchased from Harbor Freight Tools or O'Rielly's or Autozone or....... are all the same Chinese jacks. If you are into paying $600 for a professional floor jack then you can probably get one made in America. Otherwise you are just choosing between paintjobs from Shanghai.

ironically from the 2011 response i had on this oldass post that people keep bringing back up, i was given a HF jack. and ill be damned if the thing isnt the last working jack i have. the craftsman and the ac delco jacks both have issues now, and only semi work.
so, yea, i guess i now agree with the above comment of "picking between paintjobs in Shanghai" haha.

I bought a Craftsman jack very similar to the one pictured in post #15 a few years ago on sale at Sears ... it's been great- I like the little tray to put lug nuts into.
I've had the same four jack stands for 25 years - - a few years ago I sanded them down, checked the welds and feet - - repainted them so they match my pretty new jack and figure I'll use them for another 20 years.

4 years ago I owned a 69 Vette with a massive ladder frame and didn't need a low profile, long reach jack. You just stuck the floor jack under the car where ever you wanted along the frame and jacked it up. Oh, what hath technology wrought? I got to this thread by the Search feature. Anyway, I will probably be buying a Harbor Freight Chinese jack but I'm wondering if the low profile 3 ton #61282 will work on the C6 or do I need to buy the long reach 2 ton low profile #68050? The 61282 will be on sale for $78.66 at the beginning of June while the 68050 is $139.99. The 61282 is 29" o.a. length. The 68050 is 40" o.a. length.

Got this bad boy from Autozone 9 years ago. Don't remember exactly what I paid, I'm thinking less than 30 bucks. Works great. I've had to add oil to it a couple of times.

Does anyone know if the Harbor Freight crossbeam fits the the Costco jack? I could just buy an HF jack and return it if the beam fits, but that's a lot of extra driving.
And hilarious thread, I'll have to visit C5 more often.
And the correct answer is, I don't care if Jesus personally blessed a floor jack made by his disciples, you get under that, you're a dumb bunny. Go race ramp or post lift, or go to Jiffy Lube.

I am the guy that started this thread 4 years ago,and with the benefit of hindsight I can now tell you that I couldn't be happier with my Harbor Freight #68050 floor jack. It works perfectly on the C6 and so far no problems. For the most part it is used to jack from the side for mostly tire removal. I loaned it to a friend and he liked it so much he purchased one as well. For jacking from the front or rear they also sell a cross beam which I will be purchasing soon as I have been using a wooden one which I made out of oak.

PS My 69 was a big block L36 model with the M21 close ratio box and it was probably the most uncomfortable car I've ever owned (had it for about 7 years), but it was swoopy and sexy and Le Mans Blue and I do miss it. That car had a ton of "eyeball".

Damn, I was worried about that, and just got back from HF and didn't buy one of their jacks. Costco's are low, but not that low.
So why is their 2-ton low-profile more expensive than the 3-ton?
The only difference I can see is "long reach." Sounds like something you'd hear at a truck stop late at night, as in,
"It'll cost ya extra for the long reach, and double if you want the monkey to join us."

I bought the HF jack #68053 (1.5 ton aluminum racing jack) a year ago. Works well. It's on sale now at HF for $59.99 until 08/01/2015. Coupon #66030432.
The 3 ton Low Profile Steel Heavy Duty Floor Jack #68049/62326 is on sale for $79.99. Coupon #48529428.

But does the 3 ton low profile steel jack reach far enough to get to the Corvette lift points under the front of the car? I have a 3 ton jack that used to get under my 4th gen Camaro w/factory ground effects at the sides, but not much past the sub-frame members. I want one that will reach under the front of the C6 and still be "jackable". The 2 ton long reach low profile looks like it would do that, but it's $140.

I've bought some real turds from HF but also had some great experiances. I have the aluminum floor jack, bought it 7 years ago and it has given me 0 problems.
Their battery powered tools arn't worth the cardboard box the come in and the sockets/ratchets wrenches are all cast out of chinese dog $hit but for basic supplies, zip ties, welding supplies, electrical connectors, cutoff wheels and things like that you can save a lot over the big box stores.
