I solve the problem this way: When I take a trip requiring luggage I pack very lightly (laundromats are on every corner) and I keep the top on no matter what. Only time I have a slight problem is when I take my golf clubs then I have to arrange skillfully especially if DW is accompanying me.

One requirement I had when I was considering on a vert purchase was, can I get 2 full (cart golf bags) in the trunk with the top down? If I can I will get one.

WELL: I've got one. Come to think of it there is a amp and sub in there as well

My wife and I did the same on a trip from Illinois to Florida and we were still able to ride roof off and get our Florida purchases in the car. It will hold alot! Zuti
(plus it's nice to have acccess to everything in the back when the roof is on)

Well,I just happen to have come back from a trip for 10 days to the outerbanks and we packed two large suit cases a small cooler two beach chairs two small carry ons and even had room to store the top in a special roof bag in my coupe. in a vert you can maybe get two golf bags.

Absolutely. Just keep it level with the bottom of the hatch, and you're good to go! It amazes me the amount of stuff I can fit!

Thanks!!

Hi, Steven. I got rid of my extra "sunroof" top. To me it has no advantage. You don't get real sunlight and as for a view, you don't gape upward at the sky while you're driving. As far as I'm concerned, either get a "real" convertible or be satisfied with your hardtop and sell the extra roof.

Pulled up this post and discovered my own replies from 2011. Never been much of vert fan and hardly ever took off the roof on the C5 or the C6. So I vote for the coupe.

This thread is 5 plus years old. I'm fairly confident that the OP has bought a car by now...

Soft luggage/ pack light. Use the laundry facilities in the motel.

Here is my 02 with the convertible top down... As you can see, I can easily fit (2) golf bags, or several luggage bags, or several bags of groceries...

That's six (6) 50lb bags of ingredients from my place of business. Only because a coworker didn't think it would fit. Yes that's 300lbs of cargo. And as you can see the back window is not obstructed at all

It was a short 5 min ride. Didn't even notice the weight... It did help with "Hook Up"
