Front License Plate Frame/Filler
I need to get my Iowa plate on the front of my C5. I know I'll have to remove the original body color filler panel to do so. Is there a specific license plate frame that fills the opening and surround the plate? It will look odd if the plate or generic frame just sets into the recess.

how about this? I will trade you a new U shaped plate holder for the one you now have, if it is in good condition...

That U shaped filler really smooths out the look of the front plate area. I was lucky, my used 02 MY vert came with both the u shaped and the full solid filler. I presumed the car was owned in both a front plate state and a one plate state. I sold the full cover on here as it was of no use to me.
That was one quick deal! Somebody has a horse shoe!

GM made a black on for all the cars, but IMO, your best looking option is to either buy one from one of the forum vendors that is body colored or get the black one and have it painted body color. Looks much better that way on the car.

Another option would be to buy a plastic cover available at Corvette Central and other vendors that retains the contour of the front bumper. It takes 5 minutes to install and you can change it out anytime with your original filler such as at shows. You can even use velcro on the bottom to hold it in and then easily make it interchangeable with your original filler. Here are some pics -

I got mine from Corvette Central but I think most of the big vendors sell them. The original filler will go right over your plate as does the plastic cover. I have the original U-shaper black filler frame the car came with, but I like this option better as it protects the personalized plate and I can put the original filler on at shows.

I've tried all the options on the front plate as I have to run a plate in England. I would have a ticket within hours otherwise.
The color coded surround looks OK although its still a front plate. The retractable looks better when its stowed but worse than a fixed plate when its out IMHO. At least for a show you can tuck it away. Its impossible to get the plate to retract enough to be invisible. You can still see it even when its tucked away. Take a look at the pics
I got the manual plate without realizing there was an electrical option. I think I'd have gone for a switch if I'd known.
I've also tried the clear cover but again it doesnt look quite finished to me.

Out no plate
Out with plate

You could just do what I do, which is just say "screw your front plate requirement, I am only running the rear" ha ha ha! I do have my second plate in the back so if I do get pulled over for it, I can just claim I have no way to mount it yet.

Believe me I have thought about it. Some cars look fine with a front plate. Others, like a C5, do not. In this economy I would think many of the two plate states would be thinking about how much money could be save if they went to a single rear plate. What would you guess.....maybe 5 million dollars per state? What is the states cost to manufacture each plate x the number of vehicles.
I got into a debate with a coworker who's son is a highway patrolman. Of course, they though all cars should have two. I then asked if motorcycles should be required to have two plates.
