This is going to sound really stiupid but I have to ask!
I've just returned from a 900 mile road trip. The first 250 miles the weather was great and the top was down. Life was good. The rest of the trip the top was up and things went to ****. I don't know if I lost a tire weight or what, but the car shook badly. It seemed to happen just 'cause the top was up. Anyone experience turbulence bad enough to shake the whole car at about 85? It really didn't seem like a tire problem, as it seemed to cycle and resonate. Sometimes I could feel it in the steering wheel, and sometimes not. I know it seems crazy, but it sure seemed like the top caused it. Oh, by the way, the top wasn't flapping in the wind as far as I could tell. I put my hand up against it and pulled down on it and stuff like that, but couldn't tell anything.
I've driven much faster with the top up and if anything, it's smoother. Less turbulence. Did you lose air pressure in a tire? Did you try again with the top down, just for grins?
I did cruise around for about an hour and didn't notice the shake. I can't really believe the top would do that, but it sure seems so. Probably just the road. I ordered some rear tie rod ends after searching the forum. Hope that does it.
Thanks guys. I knew I was up in the night about that, but what a coincidence! I have new brakes, rotors, swaybars and links going on as soon as I can get ambitious. Think I will pull the trigger on some Michelins, too. An alignment and I should be ready to go!
By the way, stick with Gene Cully for the sways and links. I went with Eibach, which plainly shows the complete set-up including links, but all you get are the bars and bushings!
total rip off!

If you NEED half of these parts then that should be the answer.
Never had a problem top up vs. top down.
The only difference I've ever noticed - top up vs top down - is that I can hear the stereo better with the top up. That is, if I ever drove the car with the top up.
My Vert is very stable at those and higher speeds, also never heard of anyone else with that problem. You should have your tires and brake rotors checked. Let us know what turns up.
What is WKMCD? I knew I would need a flame suit. I already had the brakes, rotors and sway bars, just haven't installed them yet. Noticed some play in one of the rear tie rods, after searching vibration thrreads. Falkens are getting a little worn, and always seemed stiff, anyway. As I said, I know the top thing seemed crazy, but had to throw it out there.
