What are you guys using to remove those kevlar treated rivets? I know I can take tinsnips and just cut but I dont want the sharp edges inside the dash. I'm wondering if an air drill with a good bit would be suffice? I want the cleanest removal as possible.

I used snips after hours of trying and failing with a drill.

I'd say cobalt bits and a right angle dewalt should do it, if you're willing to spend the cash.

I worked with those darn rivets for a long time and didn't get anywhere, I ended using a sawzall.

I used a Dremmel and ground the heads off. It took no time at all, but have a vacuum handy to clean up the shavings.

When Greg (Pentavolvo) installed my double din, he also used the sawzall. It was super quick and clean. True, I couldn't watch.

I did that same thing but bought a right angle tool for my dremel and used up bunches of the cutting wheels. Buy at least two little boxes of those things. They don't last long.

I stuffed a bunch of rags in there, lots of sparks too, so no flammables around.

The left sides throws the debris into the rags, the right side throws it out at you so I laid larger towel down over the entire console. And a vacuum as little bits gets all over, regardless of how careful.

The bracket doesn't come free after they are removed, you have to tap it some.

I used a right angle craftsman drill and cobalt 1/4 bit. Took about 2 minutes. I was lucky in that I already had everything.
