Default What is the best way to store a C5 for winter?

Hey guys, for everyone out there like me, who doesn't drive their "toy car" in the winter, I was wondering how you store your cars? This is my first year winter owning a vette, and would like some input on what I should do to keep my new toy in tip top shape over the winter. I have a heated garage to keep it in. I guess I have questions like do I disconnect the battery, get a battery tender, fill the tank with fuel, add fuel stabilizer, cover the car, etc. ? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!

If you were closer you could keep it at my house and I would exercise it for you through the winter. Since you do not:
1. Fill the tank and put Stabil in it.
2. Disconnect the battery and put a tender on it.
3. A clean car cover on a clean car is good. If you are really cheap,
do as my multi-millionaire friend does. Go to Home Depot and buy a
box of 1 mil plastic on a 400 foot roll. Cut off enough to cover
your car. In the spring throw it away. Your car will still be clean.
This will work in a heated, dry garage.
4. Make sure the tires have plenty of air in them.
5. If you have any mice in the garage put something in and under the
car and in the engine compartment to keep them away.

3. A clean car cover on a clean car is good. Don't wrap your car where you can not ckeck it often for varmits. Do so at least one a week all winter.
4. Over inflate the tires to about 40 psi.
5. If you have any mice in the garage place glue traps everywhere inside and under the car and in the engine compartment to keep them from eating and nesting. Don't use any bait type products even Decon.
6. Go sit in her and check her out whenever you can! You will both feel better!

Changed a few things. Sorry you have to put her away for the winter!

My $00.02!

Here's what I do:

- Thoroughly detail the car - exterior, undercarriage, interior.
- Put a few extra pounds of air in the tires.
- When I do my last fill-up before storage, I put in a bottle of Sta-Bil to keep the gas fresh.
- I put a piece of old carpet under each tire to keep them off the cold cement.
- Hook a battery tender to my battery - battery stays in the car.
- Change oil and filter before storage.
- Put a car cover over the car.

This works for me. I do have some files on more extensive procedures you can do and if you'd like a copy, PM me your e-mail address.
