Default Oil Change Poll

Do you change your oil by a particular mileage or by the viscosity breakdown on your DIC?

I typically change my oil at 5K but I've noticed the recommended 7% viscosity is well beyond that.

With the Mobile 1 or any of the synthetic oils, the need to change is not as great as the old oil. I change mind every six months as mine is not a daily driver, but I would thing a good rule of thumb would be 7500 miles or follow the DIC.
I also change my own oil. No Quick Change or dealerships for me.

Since I don't put too many miles on (<5000 a year), I simply change the oil before storing the Z for winter every year.

Why before storing for winter? I usually do it just before the season starts.

I change mine when the DIC hits zero. It usually works out to about 7k miles. I have run Royal Purple, Mobil 1, and Castrol Edge. It ends up being about twice a year on oil changes.

The DIC monitor does NOT measure viscosity.

Same question from me. I change mine in the spring before I start driving it for the season.

While I know many people change their oil in the spring, dirty oil is very corrosive and should be changed before storage, not after.

Although this is my first year of ownership of a Corvette, the mileage and DIC worked out to an oil change a couple weeks ago. That equates to one a year, or 7500 miles, which is fine with me.

Once a year...every fall before winter storage. Only drive about 3,000 miles a year.
