it is not about the money involved. it is about waste. if everyone that changed their oil too soon or just because they felt like would actually spend the 20 bucks to have their oil tested to see if it actually needed to be changed then how many millions of gallons of oil would be saved. i cant stand to hear, i change my oil every 3K miles whether it needs it or not.

I can understand that on the oil test,,and especially agree with the 3k statement. That to me has always sounded silly to me with synthetic oil. I used to do mobile X-ray for a large St.Louis Hospital conglomerate that ran a large fleet of ambulance, lab & X-ray vehicles. They did tests and concluded that on regularly driven vehicles even with conventional oil 4,000 mile was good. This is with stop and go plus a lot of idling city driving!!Getting a test would make sense if you don't drive it! My solution is still drive it to where your OLM says change it more than once a year!!!

I change all the cars once a year...use Mobil 1 in all. If I do go over 3k in one I will change it sooner.

I do what my DIC tells me.

It's been right so far.

Change every 3000 miles...cheap insurance.

Just kidding...I'd go for the once per year option or the OLM if sooner.
