Default Hey Vendors...how about tooling up for this part?!

Gear indicator in the PRNDL...a simple casting of the plastic part would work, and last a lot longer...could be zinc, or brass, like the headlight gear. Or, nylon 6:6 in plastic...come on, I know you can do it, and do it right...show GM how it should have been made.

Would be nice if parts like that were available for us A4 owners.

Yes, and while they're at it, they need to come up with a HUD dimmer control ****. GM does not make it any more either. You have to buy the whole darn control to get this ****.

My shift indicator broke on my 1998 a4, they are not available. I am a jeweler and I took it apart, which is easy and made a mold of it. I cast it in bronze/brass and painted it with bright yellow. You can have this done if there is a jeweler in your area that really makes jewelry, most just sell other peoples products. It is labor intense but it will never break again!

great minds think alike! I had the same idea using the lost wax process...would be cool in 14 gold, right? I think you have proved this part does not need to absorb light, correct? Just blocking out the letter on the PRNDL is all you need to know which gear is selected is my guess. A smart vendor here has got to tool up for this....make one run of 100,000 units and become a millionaire.....sell them at $10/each...I'm in for two already!

Broke my little plastic indicator a few years ago putting on a shift boot. The only alternative is buying a $200+ shifter assembly.

Put me on the list.

Default Do you need a replacement gear shift indicator?

I have desgined and produced a replacement gear shift indicator for an automatic C5 Corvette that I currently have installed.

I also have a limited number of samples that I am giving away. However, I will not be liable for any loss or damage caused by installing it.

All I as is that you let me know if it works for you.

If you would like one then please PM me.

I have already manufactured a shift indicator tab out of .020 stainless sheet and a 0.250 roll pin and epoxy with reflective tape for a red indicator. works good and will last forever. thank you for the offer. I made 2 and have 1 spare. Eugene Howard

No 3d printer. I followed 7 pages of step by step instructions that I downloaded and printed from another corvette friend and manufactured at the airlines sheetmetal shop at IAH airport. Here are pictures
