Default How to keep you muffler from dragging the pavement after it breaks..(pics)

Okay..so call me a redneck but this worked (thanks Karl for the suggestion). Drove up to our Corvette meeting this past Saturday...no problem...get in the car after the meeting and the car sounded LOUD...(I thought it sounded good...my wife didn't think so...). Anyway...the weld broke to the passenger side muffler so this was the best way to hold it in place without having any tools on hand so it didn't jump out of the hanger and drag...see below.

Here's where it broke. Several years ago the same thing happened on the way back from Carlisle and I had the flanges welded and as you can tell it was a poor attempt at welding 101.

Hopefully I didn't damage anything at the hub, the boot is intact and the clamp wasn't damaged from driving it back:

I removed both mufflers yesterday and I'm working out a killer price with my bud Karl on a set that he has stored.

Always something huh?

That's what I call Corvette ingenuity. What size belt should I put in my emergency road kit?

Wow! I've lived long enough to see a real muffler belt!! (I always thought they were myth designed to stump non-car folks.)

That's great......now were you actually carrying the bungie or did you borrow from someone? (If you carried that would truly be a MacGyver moment).

Now would be a great time to install a set of B&B Exhaust, I've got them on mine and they sound AWESOME!

I used my belt! And I wear a size 38 for those who want to carry one in their tool box.
