My letters are from Cyberdine but no matter who makes the letter, prep is the key to them staying on the car.

I am considering adding letters. I want to bring out a little more contrast to the blue. The Stainless Steel letters look good and seem to be durable but SS wouldn't exactly match the chrome on the rest of the car as well as the polyurethane chrome letters, would it?? Perhaps the polished stainless looks exactly like chrome??
I also like the idea of the spectrum letters, this would seem to match everything and provide the contrast.

I got mine from Emblempros in KY. Letters are polished stainless and are listed with the seller on Ebay about $50 bucks...

I purchased a set of cheaper silver letters for the back of my 97 torch red corvette. After a couple months, one of the letters came off. I want to put a better quality (not necessarly more expensive) set of letters on. What are the brands and types of letters you have had good luck with and where did you get them? I am thinking that the stainless letters may be the way to go.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
Hint: Go with polished stainless steel.

I saw some of the polished stainless steel letters on a car last Friday. To me, I thought the finish on these letters was more "steely" than chrome like. Do the chrome polyurethane letters have more of a chrome look? I am trying to decide between these two styles. Anymore feedback is appreciated.

These are flush mount stainless from Mid America (I don't remember the part number). They have been on the car for 5 years now, (this was taken in late July) still look practically brand new...I even take it to car washes (pressure type, not the automated kind) and never had any problems with them...as others have said, besides good quality, it is also in the prep.

IMHE, I had the black ABS plastic ones on the rear for 5 years, then my
step son accidentally hit the raised R, and broke it, at the point I was never
satisfied with the glue job.
Got rid of these and put on the more flush mount beveled Cyberdines, and I like them much better. Less maintenance, and won't break.
Just a note. I had the plastic ones on the front, (Plate Inset), and due to lots of miles on HW99 in Central CA, they were beat up, cracked, and
small pieces of the lettering gone, during those five years. Also replace the front with the softer Cyberdines and they hold up to the rock hits on
the front end.
Just saying.

Sorry to bring this back from the brink of death, but how did you guys remove the double sided tape from the imprints? One of my letters fell off and I bought a replacement set, but removing the automotive tape that was holding the old stainless set in place has been a real pain in the ***.

Old adhesive ?
But make sure you clean out the old area with de-natured alcohol and then use the 3M 4298 prep to make sure your going to put the letter back in and it'll stay there.

[IMG][/IMG]Has anyone ever seen a set of the gold stainless metal ones on a car? Ecklers has them. I am trying to decide between the polished metal (chrome look) stainless and the gold metal set. The only reason I am even considering the gold is because I have light oak interior and top plus gold calipers... so there is some other gold accent on the car. Of course, going with the polished metal chrome look would accent with the wheels.
