Is it even possible to use a jack with a flat?
So has anyone carrying a scissors jack ever used it on the side of the road with a flat? I've read several threads about what to carry for a possible flat tire for those that don't use runflats. I've been looking at buying a low profile scissors jack for my lowered on stock bolts corvette but in the event of a flat tire would it even be possible to get a jack under there and especially if using a puck?

I've had two flats and jacked both... I bought a Benz jack off the web...
MERCEDES-BENZ C240 JACK Google this or similar jacks.. They work GREAT!!
And if you can't wait you'll need some plugs and a compressor..

Unless the tire is ripped up, pump the tire up with air from the compressor you have in your car. After that you should have enough room to get a jack under it.

Sound advice. The mini compressors are dirt cheap and store easily. You can plug anywhere in the tread area in an emergency.

I have used a scissor jack on the Vette - what I did though was remove the top of the scissor jack off so it just has the flat piece instead if the U channel that they come with!
They work great if you are lowered - it allows you to lift the Vette enough to get your Floor Jack under there if using it at home
Thanks,Matt

Carry a cut block of wood or a Race Ramp TraK Jak to drive up onto to gain more clearance for the jack.

I bought this jack from the local wrecking yard for $10. The top of the jack is small enough to fit in the proper position with out a jacking puck. I believe it is from an early 90's Cutlass. My car isn't lowered and it fits under it easily. I also carry a plug kit and compressor along with CAA (Cdn version of AAA)

Have you ever tried to use a plug kit on the side of the road? That's not an easy proposition either.

I had an '06 BMW M3 with std Michelin Pilots and no spare. In the trunk was their "flat fixakit." Compressor and -what looked like- a can of BMW Slime. Tirerack has a kit from Continental Tires for around 70 bucks for their non-run flat performance tires. It would store easily in the boxes in the back. Anybody try this?

If you go the jack route suggest having a flat piece of wood/plywood so the jack doesn't depress into the soft shoulder of the road. I run runflats myself. Good luck.

PT Cruiser jack will fit under a C5 with a flat. $25.00 at a salvage yard or ebay. Comes with a nice pouch. The handle seems custom made to pull the lug nut cover and fits our lug nuts just fine.
