I have "read" this goes inside the console and that it goes under the console. Less than 10 seconds install would indicate inside the console. It looks way too big to go inside the console. INside the console would seem inappropriate. Please clarify. My 2001 already has a nice thick insulator under the console. I assumed it was original but have not looked at my parts CD yet.

It simply goes inside the console. Open the console, remove any items such as loose change, cd's, sun glassed etc etc, install console insulator foil side down by pressing into place, it's a snug fit, very simple

Read his post #3: I have had mine installed for a few days now and I can say that I have noticed a decrease in the arm rest temperatures for sure. I ran a connector cable from my aftermarket head unit arm rest storage area. Before the insulator was in place the bottom of my Ipod would always get very warm to the touch as would other items in the storage bin. After installing the insulator and driving with it in place for the past few days I can say that the items stored in there are significantly cooler to the touch and so it the arm rest itself. For me it was a worthwhile $20 investment.

Here's another pic of the insulator installed in the center console of my 2000 coupe. I bought one of these because I was having a problem with my iPod overheating during regular driving. After making a 1000 mile trip to Arizona in 105+ temps my iPod didn't overheat once, so this product definitely works as advertised and does a great job of cooling down an area that otherwise gets extremely hot.
