Default MGW short throw shifter VS C6 Z06 shifter.

Hi guys. Ive been thinking about buying the MGW short throw, But Right now I have the C6 Z06 shifter and **** in my 04 and Im happy with it. But, If the MGW shifter has more short throw, Id rather have that. Does the MGW have a shorter throw and will I feel a big differents between the two. I mean for 250 bucks, I would hope I would be more happy with it...Thanks all

I went the opposite direction. I had the MGW and it's very notchy, and sometimes had a hard time getting into reverse or 1st gear.
It was a little too much effort for my liking. Once I went to the C6 shifter it's smooth as silk moving through the gears. But maybe you'll like it. I've read some people end up doing the anti-venom mod to get the MGW to shift smoother.

As I lost ~$90 selling the MGW after 6 months, I'd recommend you try and find someone local to try it out before shelling out the coin.

I installed the MGW in mine over the winter and it was very notchy, it got a lot better after I did the antivenom shift mod though. VERY short throws and very precise shifting, night and day difference over the stock shifter. I'd highly recommend it.

Default short throw

Maybe somethings not right with mine but I installed a MGW in my 02 Z last month and I don't think the throw is that short. I'm not sure if this is an accurate way of deciding but I measured the distant it takes from 1st to 2nd and it is 3 1/2 inches. I drove another 02 Z that had a short throw shifter in it (I don't know what brand) and it was super short shifting. I measured this from the center of the shift ****. I have the shift handle screwed all the way down.

Ok Well, I just went out and measured mine. From the center of the **** at the top. I got about 4 1/4. So Its alittle shorter. I just dont want to spend 250 beans and I not really happy with it...

Default short throw

Maybe somethings not rt with mine. It shifts super nice way better then the stock one it's just that I thought it would be a shorter throw.

Any thoughts on this with guys who also have one?

I had the MGW for a while, but like others, felt it was a bit too notchy. I ended up getting a shortened C6Z shifter, and it's perfect. Throws are just about as short as the MGW, maybe a touch less precise, but smooth as silk.

I have the MGW and like it pretty well. To me it seems to be short throws and precise.

My only concern is the spring load to center it on the 3rd to 4th is pretty strong. I have to think about it and pull it pretty hard to get it over to the left for first. I have wound up in 3rd a couple times by mistake. I have only had if for a couple months and about 1000 miles, so I am still getting used to it.

Where can I buy a new C6 Z06 shifter and shift ****? GM parts warehouse is not carrying anymore because of noise issues according to their website.

Adding the detent spacers (Anti-Venom) turned an otherwise umanageable shifter into a most predictable tool.
There is still a bit too much 1-2, 5-6 gate pressure for my liking on the street.
I'd rather spend time concentrating on the road rather than shifting.

I have the B&M Ripper in mine. Hated the stock C5 shifter. Love my Ripper!

I thought shifting the MGW would often hang up between 4th and 5th gear. I installed a C6 shifter and have been very happy with it. I still have the MGW is anyone wants to make an offer.
