Default clear roof panel worth refurbishing?

I picked up a used transparent roof panel on craigslist. Like many older C5 tops, it is crazed, and I bought it with the intention of refurbishing it myself (I have seen many threads on the forum here documenting successful DIY refurbs, figured I'd give it a shot myself). Last year, my top flew off my C5. The frame is still straight and the weatherstripping is in good shape. However, I went from a crazed top to a crazed top with a portion of the fiberglass surface broken off. At this point, I am beyond a DIY repair. I know there are several places that accept core frames and either restore your top or send you another rebuilt top. However, the cost (net of the core refund) is still $700-$900. Through my forum search, I wasn't able to find anyone who has gone this route. Just curious if it is worth going this route, or would I be better off waiting for a transparent top to come up for sale, buy it, and toss my cracked top (with undamaged frame) into a dumpster? I'm in no hurry to get another transparent top since I have a solid top on the car now.

I'd try and find a good used one on eBay. I did that when I wanted a Lexan top and found one well worth the money.

I think I would just try and find one on Craigslist, E-Bay or here on the forum for sale. Some can be had for a decent price - the only issue is if it has to be shipped to you - you take a chance on getting it damaged in transit.

Mine was peeling and in pretty bad shape too. I had a local body shop sand it gently and re-clear it for $200.00

This shop had done a few others in the past. They use a special clear for lexan.

It looks brand new now.
