It's a track car, it's advertising his wife's venture, the design is awesome, the wrap is what they wanted on THEIR car. What ever happened to if you can't say anything nice, say nothing at all, it's a click away....
If he, or you, can't handle public opinion then maybe he should post the pictures on a public forum.? Just sayin...
Zee - That's funny, I think the distraction might only last for 1 lap so I better make good use of it ;-)
Reaper - The hood is home made. What you see are scoops and vents turned backwards. The one in the middle is a scoop. It sits behind the radiator and pulls trapped hot air from behind it. The vents you see on each side are a pair. Just under them the inner fender is cut with screens on it. That lets tons of heat from the brakes come up and out and pulls additional hot air out from under the hood. It also reduces pressure under hood and in the wheel wells since they are high pressure zones. This also helps stop the nose of the car from rising/fluttering at speed (typically in the 120s and up is where you see it). It's home made because the really nice one I wanted is $1,500 in gel coat. Needs prime and paint. The sad part is I have seen a few in person and the fit is horrible. The other ones you see on here are inconsistent fit and mostly bling. I want real venting.
RC45 - We have never done something like this. The graphic artist works for my wife's printing company (her real job). He agreed to do the design work since he did the design for the books. He got a C5 template and started playing with it for a few months. After he got it all put together we got a shop that specializes in wraps to print and install. After we saw the final product he told me that he was very happy with the install work and the overall layout. But realized that he should have blended each panel into each other so there would be such a big contrast between them. The shop that does the wraps charges from $2-$3K for these if you come in with just an idea and they do the artwork. So it varies some. I used Speedpro Graphics in Raleigh since they have a guy that is used to doing cars and custom work. A custom paint job would have cost me at least $5K or more. It was my idea to use all the books covers so you can't blame him for it and I'm not. You are right for sure, it is a very busy wrap. I'm happy with it. A custom paint job would be the way to go for a show car. For a track car the wrap seems fitting. If I mess up a panel or parts I can go back and get that portion wrapped again. We think, but are not positive, that a wrap is easier to clean and maintain. Since it will get full of tire worms at the least. Cars with nice paint and track do not mix. The paint underneath that wrap is chipped, scratched, stained, and in a couple of places messed up from a slow, but steady entry into a tire wall. It doesn't take much...
Sarge - This none sense gets old. I already stated I expected negative opinions and NO for the last time that doesn't bother me. You're just stating the obvious and also missed the obvious. Saying you don't like something is one thing. Acting like a troll and just stirring the pot is another thing. Does that really need explanation?
Answered above. roughly $3k. Depends on how complicated the graphics, which materials, and install labor. Surprisingly Vettes are not so bad to wrap. If you take all the bolt/screw on parts off the car and make the install easier.
Here's a shot with everything back on from Watkins Glen a couple of weeks ago.
Looks good on the track... And screw these guys u can paint a vette hot pink with purple stripes and its still the badest bitch on the street. It's a creaking zo6 who gives a sh.. what it looks like. I wanna wrap my 72 any financial help if I get that wrap... J/k but seriously I would think with the long nose and weird angles it would have a lot of areas that the wrap would overlap any comments on that? I wanna go full carbon fiber wrap. Any prep needed or just slap it on? Pm me when u get the chance
