Maybe I'm just old and blind, but I don't see what they are talking about in regard to your 'Vette's engine bay!!
If you are going to drive it, it is not going to stay pristine!!!! And, if you are not going to drive it, then why have it?!?!?!?!? So you can tell some other poor SOD. "Ha ha, I have one and you don't!!"
I like to think that I am just a little above that (granted, just a little)!!

I've found it only takes an extra 5 minutes every time I wash my car to hit the engine bay with damp cloth to keep it looking as good as my exterior.
ZFlash's MSG coupe has been one of my favorites on the forum for years, primarily because it's a daily driver that looks fantastic and is not a pampered garage queen.

I get the "just drive it" point of view, however I live in Florida near the beaches and every time I go on a drive, my bottom-sucking Callaway Honker CAI on steroids deposits road sand into my engine bay.
I've found it only takes an extra 5 minutes every time I wash my car to hit the engine bay with damp cloth to keep it looking as good as my exterior.

. You've also been putting a lot into yours lately and it's looking good. I did have to wait until I was mostly done with the Vette until got this baby, funny thing, I was for an older Vette but ended up with the truck 
. Love it though and it's costing me just as much as the Vette
