That reference wasn't direct to you, lol...

I'm not gonna be pulling a boat, yet. But I think I got the answer I wanted. Also worth pointing out, I remember my old jeep, even though it had the torque, was rated only at 1500 lbs towing capacity. Limitation? Wheel base....

If you feel froggy jump. I think a cool 17 or 18 foot jet boat might look good and I think the car could do it. What might happen on the boat ramp might get interesting.

To answer your theoretical question, the theoretical answer is "yes."

As others noted above, you can add a trailer hitch to a Vette and probably get away with a total load of up to 2,000 pounds or so. Tongue weight will be recommended by the hitch manufacturer.

I tow nothing with my C5 (have a C150 pickup for that); but back when I had a new '69 Vette (4-speed), I towed a Formula Vee race car on a trailer all over the southwest -- total weight about 2,000 pounds -- and it felt like it wasn't there.

Before that, we towed a small U-Haul containing our wedding gifts behind a '62 Vette (4-speed) from Vancouver, BC, south along Hwy 1 to San Diego, then diagonally across the country to grad school in Pennsylvania. Again, no issues. (Wish I could have kept both those Vettes...)

FWIW, there's a guy that lives in my area that has an older Z06, I'd say a '99-'01. He tows a jet ski in the summer and a snowmobile in the winter with the car. I see it around once in a while, and it appears that he has a manufactured trailer hitch set up, so they apparently are available...

I towed a 22.5 foot sea ray with my 1970 4 speed vette. It had a float on trailer, got the boat in and out of the water wtih no issues and the back of the car was never close to getting wet. No problems for years doing that.
The hitch mounted to the rear, I used grade 8 bolts.

First Z06 was in 01, but either way almost any car will tow a trailer. The issue comes in hitch attachment, stability, and stopping. A quick turn and brake or acceleration and the trailer can jackknife and cause a lot of damage. I wouldn't do it unless it was my only car and I really needed to tow. The small trailers I see being pulled to car shows and events shouldn't be any problem if you can get a proper hitch attachment under the car somewhere.
