Interesting, 3 from the 50's, 6 from the 60's, and then almost a 30 year jump to one 1996. I'm not "all Corvette" knowledgeable, but were the 70's, 80's ^ that bad...

overproduction for C5's and too soon

I doubt a C6 ever makes the list either...aside from the ZR1

Emission restrictions crept in during the 70's and choked out the muscle car era, Corvette included

Tons of issues with the C4, thus only the beastly 1996 GS making the cut

Hard to create a top 10 list and there will always be arguments for additions

I would've thought that the C4 ZR-1 would be more valuable than the Grand Sport...

I would pay more for a C4 Zr1 than for a same mileage/ option C4 grandsport.

I can assure you that list was written by somebody who does not know Corvettes. There were L88's built in 68 that I can guarantee are worth more than a 96 GS and a couple of others on that list. And oh where is the 63 Fuelie? Someone needs to go back, get educated, and try again.

I do remember removing CATs from mid 70, early 80 Firebirds/Trans Ams, among a few other things to keep them flowing as unrestrictive as possible, and add a few HP gains.

By comparison, the late 70's and early eighties were very low on power and performance, they were heavy and loaded with emission controls. Add in the all too common automatic transmission of that day and you were never first off the line or around corners.

The 63 in the photo is a fuelie. I was surprised they had the 67 and 69 L88 but left out 68. There were only 80 in 68 and 116 in 69. They also left out the 70-72 ZR1 optioned cars. They are rarer than the L88's.

I'm not surprised about the lack of C5 and C6 cars.

Probably no new entries to that list ever. Those will probably always be the most valuable.

Relative to other cars they maintained their position in that day. But yes, I agree, that does detract from collector interest.

Here's what they said about that:

Generally speaking, fourth-generation Corvettes are not considered the most desirable by collectors. according to Hagerty. Even the high performance ZR-1 from the same generation is very affordable. But this Grand Sport, available for one year only, was almost as fast, easier to work on and is actually worth a good bit more.

They went by "Blue Book Value" of the cars, so it is a correct list as far as "valuable".

BTW, that 96 GS is worth $40,800 !

C6 Z06s and ZR1s will sell for more then $40K all day long, for years to come. How does that make a $40K C4 GS roadster more valuable then they are?
