Default The Legend of the Aztec Gold C5

So, we all know there are only 15 Aztec Gold C5's. I'd love to just see one in person. Anyway, does anybody know of the whereabouts of SEQ #12, the 6speed vert? How many times has it changed hands? I am just curious to know what approximate value people think this car has? Sweet for sure!

Copy from website:

After building only 15 Aztec Gold [RPO 58U] 1998 C5 Corvettes, the Color was discontinued. Problems with the paint made it impossible to continue production. It Appears they built 5 in a row, then took a break, then they built 5 more, then another break...and then the last 5 were completed.....

Speculation is they were "ADJUSTING" the PAINT FORMULA....It is said:
"No Two Aztec Gold C5's LOOK ALIKE" ....In other words the Various Body Panels OF THESE C5's DO NOT MATCH VERY WELL!!! BUT, COLLECTORS LOVE THAT!!!
Especially, Sequence # 12,the ONE Convertible. Six-Speed !

Good find, I had never heard of them!! Here is a link to what the color looks like. This has to be the rarest of colors for the C5!

So this is in my 1:18 scale garage. They only made 830 of these models. I'd like to see a "real" on close up also!

Rare, and great looking color. I opted for fairway green, which is a little hard to find, ...but certainly not nearly as rare as aztec gold. I often wonder how many, might still be out there.

We had one at the St. Armands show a couple of years ago. I know it's rare and cool to look at, however I wasn't crazy about the color to be honest.

We also had one of those rare Medium Purple Metallic C5s and I thought it was better looking.

I think the only thing worse than the 98 Pace Car is the Aztec Gold. Actually, it's a tie.

Here's a picture of the one on display at the NCM that I took back in 2009.

This color was similar to the Solar Gold that GM Pontiac used on the Trans Am in 78. I had one and when they touch up painted the doors 5 x the paint still didn't match. Pontiac actually completely repainted a couple cars but quickly decided against doing it for everyone that had to get theirs touched up.

The aztec gold is something I want to see. I'd love to know the location of the 6spd vert aztec. one of a kind. Wonder what that would fetch at a BJ or Mecum auction.

I have been swamped at work and no pics of my new wheels yet but possibly this weekend. If not then it will be another week because I'll be gone to California.

It may be ugly to most but just seeing a C5 that is so rare would be cool. Ditto the purple.

Not sure if they still have it, but at one time Kerbeck Chevy in Atlantic City NJ had one on the showroom floor - I saw it when I picked up my '03 back in 2009. It actually is a great color on the C5 - one which I wish they had been able to get the paint issues figured out.
