Anyone know how to unplug ABS/TC light?
So ever since I bought my 99' c5 the ABS and Traction Control light has been on. It's throwing a "no communication" code and I cannot for the life of me figure it out. I am SO SICK of looking at those little yellow lights beaming in my face 24/7.
The thing is I'm not trying to sell my car and rip someone off like most people would do in this situation. I love my car, I am just so god awfully sick of looking at those little freaking lights so happily reminding me of my failure to fix the problem. And until I have more time to give in and take it to the dealer I just want the lights gone, so is there an easy way to just unplug the lights?
Thanks

It's likely a dealer will be of no help.
Most likely the EBCM is kaput and the dealer will not be able to fnd one. Find a local C-5 Guru to help you out. EBCMs can be found from recyclers and a local expert will be able to assist you so you won't need permanent black tape over the lights.

I know you just asked about the light but to fix the actual problem-
I just bought a 2001 with the same problem-99% of the time it is simply the abs module that can be rebuilt for $150. There are two sites I have been getting info from-besides this great forum site-
absfixer.com and modulemaster.com
I have not done it yet but plan on in the near future-waiting so I can go ahead and replace belts and pulleys at the same time!!
Good Luck!!

A while back there was a thread that gives some hope for the early ones.
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-g...abs-units.html
It sounds like they are just getting into them and I don't know how much work they are accepting, but you might contact them about yours.
Good Luck.

I had a similar problem on my '01. After the complicated process of removing the EBCM, breaking the seal, and soldering the places that were suggested, my ABS/TC lights stayed on.
What resolved my issues in the end was removing the ignition switch, cleaning the contacts per the instructions, and reinstalling it. I was amazed that every error message disappeared after that.
Check the C5 Tech section for instructions and pics on doing this.
Good luck.

One of the best options.....
Unfortunately....One of the best options.....
Very few of them are "fixable" and until someone offers a replacement (which will likely never happen)
there's gonna be an increasing # of cars driving around with the ABS/AC lights on.
Not much you can do with them. Have someone knowledgeable with these things
check it thoroughly to be sure what's wrong. There's 500 things that could cause your problem.
