sound deadening ((frost king mod))) pic heavy!!
well after purchasing my wifes RX Lexus, i soon realized just how loud my vette and GHLs were.
The whole reason im doing this is for sound supression. tires, exhaust, engine noise, ect.
Any tips would be helpfull so thanks in advance.
fist i started my removing everything, vacuming and then brake cleaning the whole interior
Planning to do like Bill Curle and some other guys did and use these products:
First the FK insulator and then the "bubble-wrap" on top.
The Frost King insulator is very light weigh and cant work as good as dynomat but is cost WAYYY less expensive.
But with the roll cage, iron block, blower, already in my car, im really starting to get "weight" conscious. So the lighter sound deadening material makes this really attractive to me.
Ill post pics as i go. enjoy

I just did mine with a precut kit. It didn't reduce the noise much but the tunnel heat was reduced greatly. I used spray adhesive amd 3M reflective tape for the seams.

For sound-suppression - some type of Butyl (Dynamat/Rammat) and/or tight-cell foam like Ensolite - depending on the area.

I agree. Frost King is over $80 a roll here. Pretty pricy

UPDATE:
Ok ok i didnt use the frost king stuff. after hours and hours of research. i contacted my locale stereo shop where i got a smoking deal on some Hushmat. i looked everywhere for a roller and finally found one at Hobby Lobby crafts store. They have them for screen printing. Couldnt find one at lowes or homedepot
Today is really my only day off so i was working on my car hell or high water! not even the pouring rain could stop me. i did find a leak in my car that i havent noticed b4.
guess ill be pulling the headliner and fixing that as well.
I made sure to cover up my tunnel really well bc i get alot of drivetrain noise through the shift boot.
i got the pannel behind the seats, tunnel, and firewall done today.

its super light. That actually one of the reasons that i didnt go with frost king. I think that is it to light to surpress sound. Im sure it does but prob not as much as the hush mat or dynomat. my car is a PIG anyways( iron block, blower, intercooler, cage ect..) so whats another 30lbs of hushmat lol

Once again nice job. Thanks for keeping us motivated. You do a nice job of chronicling your projects. With the help of you and Toque (and your Silver Zs), I will be a pro at moding my hot rod.
When I get my drivetrain back in I'll be taking on the same task.
Any special tricks getting all of the pieces out without damaging trim, tearing a seat or scratching paint? What tools did you use?
