Nitto 555's or Invo?
After researching tires to replace the GY Eagles, I have settled on Nitto's for a number of reasons. (price, ride, noise, performance) BUT, which style? 555's or Invo's? I never drive in bad weather (snow, very little rain) and put about 2500 miles on each year. Mostly just relaxed cruising, with an occasional "spirited" moment.

I have the INVOs, which came on a set of wheels I purchased from a Forum member a couple of years ago. I like them much better than the run-flats that were previously on the car - not nearly as noisy, and a much less jittery ride.
The INVOs are also among the lowest priced tires for my fitment needs (275-35-18s up front; 305-30-19s in the rear). And for that fitment, there aren't too many choices.
I expect that my INVOs will deliver around 20k miles of useful life before they get dangerously worn. That's enough for me.
I know nothing about the 555s. So I, too, would like others who have had both set of tires to chime in. I think the 555s are a bit pricier, and so I am curious on what basis others believe the additional expense is warranted.
I don't race the car, so I'm not sure that "better hook-up traction" and cornering prowess will be among the criteria I would highly value when selecting tires. But treadlife, noise level and ride smoothness will be.
It will soon be time for me to purchase new shoes for my baby, and absent comparative information (on both the INVOs and 555s) I will buy a new set of INVOs.

My street wheels have Hankook V12s mounted on them while my track wheels have Nitto NT05s. I absolutely hate going back to the V12s and find myself running the NT05s on the street more than I probably should.
Looking at the Nitto website the Invo is rated as maximum comfort and minimum road noise. A few minutes of searching the web confirms that the tire does in fact have a soft sidewall. This is my big problem with the Hankooks. They ride very smooth and comfortable but it's unbelievable how much the tires squirm under the smallest inputs. The NT555 is even less performance oriented than the Invo.
In the end everything is a compromise. Do you want comfort, performance, or value. I will personally not be buying a soft sidewalled tire again. If you are absolutely stuck on Nittos then I would recommend the NT05. It does however sacrifice some ride comfort (I think it's still fine and I'm running a track suspension). If you are willing to consider other brands, I would highly recommend you consider Toyo T1Rs. I've had this tire on 2 different cars and it is IMO the perfect blend of performance, comfort, and value.

Thank you for the help! I have ALWAYS been able to count on the members of this forum for great "hands on" advise. Did not even consider the NTO5, now will check on the price (for sure a factor) against the INVO's. 555's still sound good too!

I switched to the 555s last year and am happy - can't compare to anything else as I went from the GY run flats to these. If I recall the 555s have a bit more treadwear than the others. My use is a fair weather DD, couple-3 road track events, a few drags per year...

I wanted max grip for my tires, and the NT05 are the best I could find in z06 sizes for the price. They don't have quiet the same grip as a Dunlop Star Spec (I have the Z1 on my WRX), but since the Star Specs don't come in z06 sizes, i went with the nt05. They're plenty grippy for a street tire, though.
Also something to consider is that they come with 7/32 tread, I think to prevent some tread squirm early in its life.

Not too sure about what mods you have on your car. Mine is blown and the Invo's struggle a bit. Will look for something a little more sticky next time(won't be long). Good luck man!

My 2 cents. I used 555s for 20k on my C5 they went over 180 mph at the Texas Mile. Great in the rain and sidewalls do not flex like the Invos and they last longer. If you do not drive in the twists like I do then the Invos are a decent tire. 555s are quieter than Invos especially after 50% tire wear.
If you want a better traction tire the NT-05s will be fine but not all that good in wet weather especially after 50% tire wear.
For the amount of driving you do get the 555s

Adding a vote for Invos. I'm all stock and the invos are much better than the Pzero Rossos I had on.
OT, you're running 295/35/19 on the fronts? I'm running 295/30/19 and wonder if I will get a little more comfort with the thicker tire in front.
