Maybe you could put a Prius engine in your Corvette.

I take it you drive with an egg between your foot and the gas pedal in town to get that kind of MPG in town....

Just messing with you, how do you get that kind of MPG in the city??

The great MPG is offset by the $12 bottle of Techron you have to add every tank or two to delay the $1,500+ gas tank sensor replacement ever so often.

It's a VW rear end and tranny. I'll post up the finished product after we're done , sometime this summer. Oh, by the way, my 02 averages around 25 MPG around town and 32 MPG on the freeway.
Saw a dune buggy like this at a car show....

To those who don't care about gas mileage, at what price per gallon would you begin to "care" ?

Picked up a 99 FRC two weeks ago, from San Diego to CO, SoCal evening stop and go traffic to San Berdu, and then open hwy the rest of the way with lots of on ramp runs.

31.7 avg for the whole trip, I'm still tickled over it. I mean its a 99, original block and still doin over 30 mpg, that was 85/90mph, AC on and all.

Of course no one here believes it.

I care about the mileage and price per gallon in my DD, that sees about 800 miles a week for work. The Corvette is another matter, it only goes about 3-4000 miles a year, and it's worth whatever it costs.

I drive mine like I stole it, put gas in it when it's needed, often . To answer your question, when I can't afford gas any longer, I'll park it....

My weekend trips to C&C, Car Shows, Cruise In's, easily run 200-500 miles round trip, so it's easy for me to run through a tank of gas on weekends, and probably half a tank during the week when I take it out and run around the city. I drive mine hard....but that's me....

People can't believe how good they are for mpg.

I first found out about them when I bought an '87 with the 0.60 OD 4+3 and got 30.1 on the way home over a 1000 mile drive.

I have also had an 88 A4 with the 2.59 axle, two '94 speeds, and two C5 6 speeds that all got over 30 mpg highway. My C5's get more like 32-34 highway and if I try, I can beat that.

I also have an S10 with a 4 cyl. 5 speed. The corvettes easily beat that.

I was driving over 100 miles per day commuting to work, but I didn't buy the corvettes only for mileage, or handling, or acceleration, I want it all.

I drive my 04 every day during the summer and average 21-23 mpg. Which coincidentaly is just shy of the mileage I get in my Mercury Sable (24mpg) that I drive all winter long.

Before my C5 I had a 06 Miata. That didn't do much different in mileage but I walked ahead of the Corvettes on the autocross track. At 6'3" I seem to fit better in the vert.

I daily drive a truck, so the vette is like a prius compared to the 14mpg I get on the highway in my truck.
