I have good success with the wave. The people who don't wave seem to be those who don't notice Corvettes. That's lame. They probably don't really care about there own cars, so screw them.
Wave on!!!
It does seem to be the C6 owners who, most often, will not return the wave.
I had driven Corvettes from the very late sixties and then throughout the seventies into the eighties. It really was rare for someone not to return a wave back then. But, as many have noted, times really have changed.
I think some people are just clueless. They look straight ahead. They don't scan at all.
I was headed north on Capital Blvd. in Raleigh today when a 2004 Commemorative Edition Z06 went by headed south. It was a super nice day and I had my windows down. I gave an emphatic wave and it wasn't returned. When he went by I could see he was looking straight ahead as if his head was bolted on his shoulders.

Waving comes second to driving safely and keeping your eyes on the road. Especially since many of us are not as sharp as we once use to be. The way I see it is If I see you, Ill wave, and if you don't wave back its no big deal. I have, on many occasions not notice a corvette until after it passed or when its too late to wave. Demanding a wave in return is setting yourself up for disappointment. As long as you are keeping the tradition going, you are doing your community service. Don't be upset because some people do not want to play along. Obviously , they are enjoying their corvette or they would not have bought it.

I wave all the time but my wife says that my head is on a swivel when I drive. I think a lot of drivers are either involved in conversation of their own or look straight ahead. someone has to be first so take the initiative and wave. additionally, my DD is a MINI Cooper S JCW and they wave too. so Im always waving........
Still, it's important to scan from side to side and in the mirror as well as look down the road. Not everything comes from dead ahead.
Still???
I've been driving fast cars FOR OVER 50 YEARS, I've never had a ticket or an accident. are you attempting to tell me how to drive, as if keeping your eyes on the road does not include scanning and checking the rv mirror, checking for children ,deer and side streets and people going through stop signs and looking out for cross street violators etc.. but it doesn't include looking and focusing to see if the guy in the corvette come up is going to wave. This isn't 1960 when there where half as many cars on the road. Maybe on some country road. but if you read some of the stories here about people who cant control their speed and love to speed in excess and shoot in and out of lanes and past people who are already exceeding the speed limit. All I said was don't be disappointed if someone doesn't wave back. and I've been waving for 50 years.

Wow. You took that way too personally. It was never intended as an indictment of your driving knowledge or prowess.
To miss another C5 in moderate traffic on a major throughfare where you can see a mile down the road and that passes by just 20 feet away at low speed seems to indicate someone who isn't looking around. That's all I was saying.

Just today I passed one of the 20% of C6 drivers that wave. Crystal Red C6. I waved and he returned the wave. Of course I passed several others today that offered no acknowledgement. Oh well. All good...

I take things personally when you quote me personally.
I got the wave from a C6 ZR1 the other day and I felt like a million bucks that someone in a completely different social class than I noticed my C5 couple! I love the Corvette family
I waved at a few on Monday, well, ok, I give them the peace sign. All waved back. Saw a C5 in my rearview the other day, so I slowed to let him catch up. Fun!
And, I even waved at a kid in a new M5....after I beat him by 20 car lengths at the track. He wanted to try me again.....I asked....why?
I'm 27 and you took the words right out of my mouth. My mom and step dad think times are better now because of the crazy assassinations and all then people they lost to war. They sound like sad days. But when you think about muscle cars and kids playing outside all day and everything you mentioned, it does sound like a dream.
Might want to consider that in the 60's, JFK, RFK and MLK were all assassinated. We had Kent State, Vietnam and anti-war riots from coast to coast. We had Watts, Selma, Montgomery and Boston.
It might seem that those days were "slower", but believe me, they were pretty tense.
Some of us are older than that too. There are many great things about the past that have fallen by the wayside. That doesn't mean we don't embrace new things, or new ideas.
If you didn't live through those slower times, or the air of respect for everyone and everything they own, then you may not understand our feelings about the past... its not that we are living in the past... we just remember how simple life was back then. I know your comment on being really really old was not meant with disrespect. The Movie American Graffiti is something all you youngsters should watch.. its a real close depiction of the times us ancient aliens lived through. Those times where magic and we did it without a cell phone or a computer.

Yeah....and then go watch Apocalypse Now and All the President's Men. It wasn't all sweetness and light back then ET.

Seeing we are talking 50's and 60's I will add this, I grew up during those years and have to tell you I love it, Yes I drank water out of the hose and ate led paint and I am still here as living proof that those things didn't hurt me, There is something wrong though, I look at our future generation and say WTF, Back then with no cell phones and such we did just fine, Sure we has some big assassinations back in the day, But look what we have now, Not a nice sight, I would take the old days over the current any day for sure, We were able to go outside and play all day and never had to worry about the things we have going on today. Hell you can't even go to a movie without wondering.
