Default C5 Fixed Projector Headlights (in progress)

It is finally time to start working on the C5 Corvette Projector Headlights. As some of you know, I already designed a system for the C4. Throughout the C4 design we learned efficiencies enabling us to develop quality products at a competitive price. Below is a photoshop image of the product we are working towards. The headlamps will be glass lens hella projectors. We are also testing a HID version for DOT certification.

If this is your car, let us know. We will be glad to provide a discount for future installed pictures. Also, this may be my favorite body kit for the C5.

Based on previous experience, we expect this design to take 2-4 months depending on how much time I have to dedicate. The expected product price will be around $800, with a discounted price for those on our preorder/interest list. Email rppcorvette2@gmail.com to be added to our contact list for this future product.

Thanks,
Brandon

Now Headlights like this I would Buy, I hate the Look of the fixed headlights Ive seen but these in the pic above are nice and sleek and look as though they were part of the car from the factory. If you offer a setup like whats in the pic I would definetely buy a pair.

I agree. We are planning a measurement on a C5 this weekend. After that we will move forward with the design.

I mocked up the headlights this weekend. A buddy was kind enough to let me borrow his C5. Unfortunately, I was unable to achieve the desired placement without cutting the wheel well. I can't really do that to a borrowed car. I will either get my own C5 or find a willing participant in the Jacksonville, FL area to finish this design.

Thanks,
Brandon

Love the body colored shrouds. I'm very interested to see how the lights turn out.

I love the fact that guys like you are making custom headlight options for the corvette, but one thing has always bothered me.
Why do you choose to base your custom design around the Hella halogen projectors when there are so many HID projectors on the market that have significantly better light output? Is it hard to get a DOT cert for OEM/replica projectors? Is looks valued over output? Do some customers prefer Hallogen? Do the HID systems cost too much?

Also, what body kit is that?

I am now looking for a C5, or someone close to Jacksonville FL that doesn't mind some slight mods as I continue the headlight design. I need to make some small cutouts in the wheel housing near the front.

As for the question about why Hella over the HID headlamps available. Quality and Standards! There is a big difference between making a HID headlamp and making a DOT/SAE compliant headlamp that is both safe and effective. There are a multitude of systems available, but so far, most companies I have communicated with are unwilling to hold a standard that I will accept. Hella only produces high quality, safe products. If you can show me a DOT/SAE Headlamp in the 75mm or smaller profile, I will be glad to do some testing. FVMSS testing is expensive, but we will do what is necessary to ensure we only bring quality, safe products to the customer.

If anyone is interested in being a guinea pig for C5 testing, let me know.

Thanks,
Brandon

Still looking for a cheap C5 or a volunteer with a C5 in the Jacksonville FL area. My C5 ceiling is around 10k until next year. After that, I don't want to go above 20k. My fitment will require slight cutting of the wheel well.

Thanks,
Brandon

Is there anyway you could just buy a wrecked C5 that was hit in the rear to do your testing on? I would think that would be the route to go

I don't mind the look but no way I would ever go Halogen, it just does not have the light output of a modern projector/HID setup. The stock halogens are a joke compared to the HIDs on my '95 M3 and the Wife's '08 TTq really blows both away. There are some great small projectors out there, look at what Radioflyer does.

I have a set of halogen (H9) 90mm Hella projectors on one car, and quite honestly they aren't really comparable to most other halogen lights. They do make them in both HID and LED varieties, but they're really pricey.
