Detailers: Some improvement!!!!!!
I'm sure you guys all saw the pics I put up yesterday. I did some thinking about this overnight at work and decided to try something this morning.
I had about 30 minutes this morning before the sun got to the hood and began to heat it up; so I broke out the Meguires polishing compound, a foam applicator pad a micro-fiber cloth and a bunch of elbow grease and went at it by hand.
I slightly moistened the pad with a little water, wrung most of the water out and applied some polishing compound and began to work it in with a circular overlapping pattern, then wiped it off with the micro-fiber cloth.
This is what that got me on almost half of the hood that I could do before the sun got to the hood. You can see the area I did as apposed to the area I did not get to yet.
What an improvement!! Obviously I have a LOT more work to do but it shows that it is not beyond repair. Wish me luck!
Oh, BTW; no power tools were used or harmed in the creation of this miracle............

That is one heck of a difference - very good job you've done. Hope the rest of the hood turns out just as nice.

I once had a 64 T bird the po left sitting outside. I thought the car was silverish in color.
After I did some compound on it I found the car was that early sixties light green color.
My point, you would be surprised how much the sun and weather affects the paint and sometimes compound can revitalize it.
Hopefully your damage was only on the first layer or so of the paint. get that off and then use a good polish and then use a good wax. Two or three coats of wax would be preferable.
Good luck.
FYI,
That buffer you have is not the best but it's better than nothing and better than elbow grease, imo.
