Default Corvettes of Houston

unfortunately today being a little paranoid about online transactions is nearly required.

I recently bought something from corvettes of houston, CLB, following a link on the forum's sticky about column lock problems. there are a few red flags, just looking for someone to say yes all this sounds good nothing fishy going on...

main site for corvettes of houston somehow becomes corvette world parts by the time you buy something...name change? also seems to go by Corvette World Houston on some parts of their store and on e-mails.
spam filter caught all of the mail from them, and its gotten pretty good about not catching legit stuff, but not perfect.
I clicked a link in the e-mail to check order status, Chrome puts up a big exclamation mark saying the site's security certificate came from an unknown source and can't be trusted, the https was cross out in the address bar.
got an e-mail with a tracking number. when checking out the only shipping option was UPS, they sent me a fedex tracking number.
tracking number does not show up on the system, but that's not really a red flag since the number is brand new.

I wish a little paranoia didn't have to be part of online shopping, but as I'm sure many of you have, I've had the just delightful experience of having CC numbers stolen. can someone who has recently bought from them, or corvettes of houston themselves if they are online, please verify that is all ok. probably all fine, that's just too many possible red flags for one transaction.

Corvettes of Houston has changed their name to Corvette World Houston. I live in Houston and deal almost exclusively with these guys. They are verry knowledgable and prices are fair and service is outstanding. As for their website I have never ordered from it however if you call the store they will order just about anything you could desire.

with James on this. New owner seems to want to run this place out of business,TERRIBLE customer service, over charges for labor and other nit picking charges. Just say NO,there's way more better companies on here to deal with. L8R ZLASH

I wouldn't do any business with them. That place is going downhill FAST.
When I went to purchase a Column bypass kit one of the guys there tried to sell it to me under the table without a receipt. No thanks! What if something was wrong with it? After that the place just seems shady all together to me.

They are short handed in the shop as well, I couldn't get a tune cause they are down to 2 guys back there and weeks before I could get a tune......no thanks. It's a shame....but I used to like the place, maybe have to wait a while before things get lined out.

I mean think about it? You have a prime location, and a very well known brand, and a facility to handle the work and you can't manage to make it in Houston, TX?

That's a recipe for unqualified SUCCESS! YET.............?

Such a shame to see another company going the wrong way.
Remember when I was living in Dallas, Corvettes of Dallas went the same way, back in '09 they went down hill and never came back. Sad to see it happen, hope they get the hint and reverse their current business practices.

One of their sales guys was a member here. Not sure he is still there or here anymore.

It's a shame they are falling apart. I used to like browsing their showroom. Clean, low mile cars.

Good to know, I have forgotten the name of the tuner who did mine back in '08. He was excellent, knowledgable and extremely detailed in his approach..

hmm. that's really too bad! I hope this goes smoothly. tracking info showed up. the delay on that is perfectly normal. I'm sure it will be fine, but sounds like they really need to get their act together. this is my first purchase with them, but I'm really familiar wtih the name over the years, seems like they used to be a good place.

Hope everything works out OK for you. That vendor has been a long time forum sponsor - sad to hear of the problems people are having.

I still remember their free giveaway here where nothing was ever actually given away. When people started asking about it the threads just got locked. I think it was around the time of their name change so I'm sure the new management had something to do with it. Sad to lose credibility over some catch cans, or whatever it was they were supposedly giving away.

I bought a vette there in 1997, never again, what a lemon that 1988 was and they had a tough luck attitude...

I bought a power programmer 3 from them a lil over a year ago. It was supposed to work with my '99. Guy said that if it didn't they would make it right and give me a full refund. Long story short....it didn't work and I'm stuck with a POS tuner that didn't work at all. Haven't dealt with them since and I won't deal with them again. Hope that your experience isn't like mine.
